The global popularity of Jujutsu Kaisen is once again demonstrated as a Barcelona striker recently paid tribute to a beloved character from the series while celebrating his latest goal.
Jujutsu Kaisen continues to sweep the globe with its immense popularity. Having broken the world record for the most sought-after animated series, the show has also become a prominent feature in pop culture.
In recent months, various famous figures have mentioned the series, such as Megan thee Stallion, Bruno Mars, and Usher. Most recently, Barcelona striker Marc Guiu has also become a part of this group, following the team’s match against Ibiza.
On June 8, FC Barcelona faced off against ID Ibiza in a closely contested game. In the end, the former emerged victorious with impressive goals from Marc Guiu, Pau Víctor, and Unai Hernández, who stunned both onlookers and teammates with a hat-trick performance.
Despite several notable players, it was Guiu who captured the interest of anime enthusiasts. When he scored a goal against Ibiza, the 18-year-old footballer mimicked Satoru Gojo’s domain expansion hand sign, causing a stir among fans.

With the athlete’s joyful expression and playful grin, it is clear that the allusion was purposeful. This action from Guiu reveals his admiration, or at least his knowledge, of Jujutsu Kaisen. And like many of us, he also shares a love for Gojo.
Guiu’s tribute to Jujutsu Kaisen serves as a reminder of the numerous celebrities who have shown their admiration for the popular anime series. In 2023, the collaboration between K-pop and anime fans reached new heights as BTS’s Jungkook was seen making Gojo’s domain expansion hand sign in a behind-the-scenes clip from the ‘Standing Next to You’ remix music video featuring Usher.
During a radio show, the famous popstar shared his admiration for Gojo and Jujutsu Kaisen. Usher, who has also shown his support for the series through his Gojo cosplay, is another celebrity known to be a fan. Rapper Megan thee Stallion is also a frequent cosplayer of anime characters, with one of her most notable portrayals being Sukuna from Jujutsu Kaisen.
The global popularity of Jujutsu Kaisen is evident through the numerous references made by celebrities.
