Despite being outwitted by Sasakura during their first encounter, Kuzuhara was disappointed with his skills and even went as far as to say that Sasakura’s drinks were not up to par.
The Chairman’s decision was to pit the two master bartenders against each other. He then requested his granddaughter, Miwa Kurushima, to act as the judge. Despite the strikingly similar appearance of both Sasakura and Kuzuhara’s Manhattan cocktails, Kurushima ultimately favored Sasakura’s drink and declared it to be her preferred choice over Kuzuhara’s.
Despite this, her initial assessment was proven wrong when she discovered that the flavor of Sasakura’s cocktail had shifted over time due to his dedication to pleasing her. However, Kuzuhara’s drink maintained its original taste as he had prioritized achieving the ultimate cocktail rather than catering to Kurushima’s preferences.
As a result of his inexperience as a bartender, Sasakura prioritized his customer’s satisfaction, which ultimately led to his loss in the contest, as pointed out by Kuzuhara.
Despite Sasakura’s defeat greatly affecting him and causing him to lose his usual calm and cheerful demeanor, he unexpectedly lashed out at Kurushima, who was simply trying to console him. Fortunately, after sharing a drink at a nearby bar, the two were able to reconcile and the episode came to a peaceful conclusion.
