BC > DS — Fans Exile Demon Slayer from New-Gen Big 3 as Black Clover Manga Returns

The official release for Black Clover chapters 370 and 371 is scheduled for Monday, April 29, 2024. However, fans were met with leaks from the upcoming chapters just days before their release, causing much excitement and anticipation among readers as they got a sneak peek into what to expect from the manga.

With the manga series now only releasing its chapters every three to four months, fans have taken this chance to declare Yuki Tabata’s work as one of the top new-generation shonen series, even comparing it to the new Big 3. As a result, Black Clover (BC) has surpassed Koyoharu Gotouge’s Demon Slayer (DS) manga in popularity.

Why Did Black Clover Fans Dethrone Demon Slayer as Part of the New-Gen Big 3?

On April 24, 2024, @CJDLuffy, an anime fan on X, tweeted asking if Jujutsu Kaisen, My Hero Academia, and Demon Slayer are considered the “big 3″of the new generation of Shonen series.

Upon reviewing their account, it becomes apparent that the individual is a devoted fan of One Piece. In addition, they consistently criticize other popular manga and anime such as BC, Bleach, and Boruto. This led fans to believe that @CDJLuffy was intentionally attempting to discredit ongoing series like Black Clover and Boruto.

Fans of BC were quick to notice this and expressed their belief that Yuki Tabata’s series should take the place of Demon Slayer. This is due to the fact that the Demon Slayer manga concluded in 2020, making it ineligible for a potential inclusion in the new generation Big 3 lineup. Interestingly, this was not the only opinion shared by fans regarding the “new-gen Big 3.”

How Fans Reacted to the Possible New-Gen Big 3 Roster

Many fans have expressed their belief that Demon Slayer should not be included in the “new-gen Big 3″category, as the series concluded a while back.

Additionally, a large number of fans expressed the belief that the animation of the anime did justice to the quality of the manga series.

“Black clover > Demon Slayer,”said one fan.

The Big 3 is determined by the manga’s volume sales and performance. As a result, many fans felt that including a completed manga as part of the lineup was not appropriate.

“Animation slayer sneak,”another fan added.

Despite having lower sales compared to other manga, Yuki Tabata’s series is still being serialized. In fact, when the most recent chapters were leaked, fans were unable to contain their excitement and strongly believed that Yuki Tabata’s manga surpassed the popular Demon Slayer manga.

“Remove MHA and add Black clover,”one fan stated.

“I would swap DS with Dandadan and MHA with Black Clover to represent One Piece and Naruto better,”another fan added.

Strangely enough, Demon Slayer wasn’t the sole series that fans believed should be surpassed by Yuki Tabata’s manga.

Despite the opinions of many fans, some argue that My Hero Academia should not be included in the Big 3, and instead, Black Clover should be the one to join the ranks.

“It’s big 3 not best 3,”one fan added.

“Black clover is mid & can’t sell for sh** probally the least popular new gen right now,”another fan said.

Despite the expected opposing points, there were some who commented on these takes. One individual pointed out that the discussion was focused on the Big 3 based on manga sales, rather than the best 3 overall. Another netizen criticized BC, stating that it was the least popular new-gen series.
