Batten assured them that the driveway was intact, only to realize it had been removed without her knowledge on November 14.

First reported by Local 3 News, nearby witnesses recounted seeing multiple trucks and heavy machinery on the property for about two hours on the morning of the theft. Descriptions included a truck with a trailer, a dump truck transporting a backhoe, and another vehicle loaded with additional equipment. Many neighbors initially assumed this was legitimate work being performed.

Batten reported the removal to the non-emergency police line, but she faced challenges in articulating the bizarre situation. She noted that some people even speculated that the early photographs of the driveway were AI-generated, not believing the story until they witnessed the empty space firsthand.

Several neighbors indicated they heard or saw machinery as the crew lifted the concrete, yet they did not question the operation since it seemed routine under the circumstances. One resident reported observing workers dismantling the driveway while on their way to drop off their children at the bus stop.

Speculating about the motives behind the incident, Batten suggested the possibility that the crew could have mistakenly targeted her property. If no one comes forward to claim responsibility, the cost of replacing the driveway could set her back approximately $12, 000 USD. Her primary concern now is locating the individuals involved to rectify the error without incurring the financial burden herself.
