With the confirmation of Black Ops 7 already making headlines, fans of the franchise are eagerly anticipating the upcoming content in Black Ops 6, particularly with Season 5 on the horizon. Release Date for Season 5
Mark your calendars! Season 5 of Black Ops 6 is scheduled to launch on August 7, 2025. This date corresponds with the conclusion of the Season 4 Battle Pass, which has been extended to allow players additional time to complete their challenges before the new content debuts.
Typically, Call of Duty seasons run for eight weeks, leading to speculation that Season 4 would wrap up on July 24. However, the decision to extend the season until August 7 has been confirmed.
As a standard practice, each new Call of Duty season commences immediately following the end of the previous one.
Introduction of a New Zombies Map
The forthcoming Season 5 update will also feature the eagerly awaited final Zombies map known as ‘Janus Towers.’ Fans have been anticipating this release ever since hints were dropped in the Shattered Veil Easter egg. The June 17 COD POD further confirmed that this map is indeed part of the Season 5 launch.
Stephanie Snowden, Senior Director of Communications, commented, “I can confirm that the finale of the Black Ops 6 Zombies story, including the new map, will launch at Season 5, ” at the 44:33 timestamp.
She added, “The map is fantastic, and we’re building towards this moment. Zombies will remain a part of Black Ops 7, and players got a glimpse of it at the end of the official teaser—there’s a lot to look forward to in Season 5.”
Although we’re currently referring to the next map as Janus Towers, it remains to be seen if this will be the official title; clarification is expected as the launch date approaches.
Exciting Weapon Leaks
In the realm of weaponry, renowned dataminer Reality has uncovered numerous additions to the game files, including the return of the classic MP40 submachine gun. This fan favorite has been a staple in several Call of Duty installments and is eagerly anticipated in Season 5.
Additionally, the game files reveal a couple of melee weapons, such as the Boxing Gloves and a Chainsaw, alongside a mysterious ‘Wand’ weapon, the exact nature of which remains uncertain. It could either refer to a whimsical item for a limited-time mode or act as a code name for a more traditional weapon.

Other notable weapons found in the files include the APS Underwater Rifle, Uzi Carbine, M60 LMG, and Brass Knuckles as a melee option. A Combat Bow Killstreak has also surfaced in the game files. However, it’s important to remember that the presence of these weapons in the game files does not guarantee their imminent release; they may be saved for Season 5 Reloaded or even Season 6.
Returning Operator
Sims, a familiar face from Black Ops Cold War, is making his comeback in Season 5. Introduced in the campaign and later as a playable Operator in the multiplayer mode, Sims has returned to the Black Ops 6 narrative as well.
His Operator character has been identified within the game files, which strongly suggests he will be part of the Season 5 Battle Pass. Additionally, two more Operators with codenames ‘chocolate’ and ‘jellybean’ have emerged, but speculation about their identities remains open.
