Black Ops 6’s Controversial Sleeper Agent Feature Receives Harsh Criticism

The latest addition to Black Ops 6 has sparked widespread disapproval among the community and has been heavily criticized for its perceived lack of quality and intelligence.

The announcement of the new field upgrade, Sleeper Agent, in a blog post outlining the various weapon and loadout options in the upcoming game, was met with immediate criticism from players.

As mentioned in the article, this upgrade will enable players to “disguise themselves as a friendly member of the opposing team for a limited time and infiltrate their ranks.”

When utilizing the Sleeper Agent, each kill you acquire will result in an extension of your time undercover. However, it is important to note that your “true identity”may be exposed by enemy intelligence devices such as UAVs.

To add to the difficulty of identifying the rogue player, their name will be displayed in blue, potentially deceiving others into believing they are a trustworthy individual.

Shortly after streamer ModernWarzone showcased a clip of this new feature in action on X (formerly Twitter), players wasted no time in criticizing the new addition.

“One X user wrote, “What the hell are they smoking? This is the dumbest idea ever. Whoever came up with this should be fired and never allowed to make videogames again.”

A different Call of Duty player expressed confusion over the developers’ tendency to continuously introduce new features to the games each year that no one has requested.

Some also pointed out that although this feature may create more chaos in multiplayer matches, it may not be as effective as initially thought. As the match progresses, players will likely be able to identify the Sleeper Agent by recognizing the operator skin of the user.

The upcoming release of Black Ops 6 is poised to revolutionize the Call of Duty series with its innovative omnimovenent gameplay enhancements and significant alterations to the Zombie mode. It is anticipated that long-time fans of the franchise may face a slight learning curve.

Black Ops 6 is scheduled for release on October 25, 2024. However, players will have the opportunity to try it out early through the open beta, which will be available from Friday, September 6 at 10 AM PT to Monday, September 9 at 10 AM PT.
