Recent discussions among the Call of Duty community have turned to Treyarch’s response regarding the pace of weapon leveling in the much-anticipated Black Ops 7. Following the unveiling of new multiplayer elements, fans are expressing both excitement and concern about various gameplay mechanics.
As new installments of Call of Duty approach, a series of key events captivate fans. Major highlights include the debut trailer, campaign walkthroughs, and multiplayer showcases. However, the Call of Duty Next event, alongside the inaugural beta weekend, typically garners the most attention, shaping player expectations significantly.
The latest Call of Duty Next, which took place on September 30, showcased thrilling gameplay snippets, including fresh multiplayer maps, an array of new weapons, game modes, and previews of Zombies and Warzone. This preview further fueled anticipation for Black Ops 7, though it also brought forth critical feedback from dedicated players.
Concerns About Weapon Leveling Speed Addressed by Treyarch
One predominant topic of discussion has revolved around the speed at which players can level up their weapons and unlock new attachments. Observations made during the event indicated that the progression might feel slower than expected. For instance, popular streamer Marksman highlighted his experience when watching another player’s progress, stating, “The weapon leveling is a little concerning in BO7 from what we’re seeing at COD NEXT. I watched @HusKerrs get 40 kills with a shotty, and it went from level 1 to 6 or 7.” He subsequently reached out to Treyarch’s design director, Matt Scronce, for clarification.
I wouldn’t worry too much about leveling at the moment as we always dial it in differently for Next, Beta, and then launch.@LawrenceMetten

Scronce reassured players that adjustments are typically made based on feedback gathered during various phases, including the Next event, beta tests, and the official launch.
However, concerns over weapon leveling are not the only issues highlighted by fans. Another point of contention is the newly introduced Gravemaker Scorestreak, which has raised eyebrows due to its capability of eliminating players through walls with a single shot.
In addition, there are apprehensions regarding the overall performance of the Warzone mode, with several streamers describing its current state as “rough.” Notably, Black Ops 7 is set to implement significant changes to the battle royale experience, particularly in terms of loadout management and the introduction of Tactical Sprint.
As the release date approaches, players should stay tuned for further updates and refinements to ensure a captivating gaming experience.
