As anticipation builds for the release of Black Ops 7 on November 14, Treyarch has revealed significant updates based on player feedback from the October beta. In a recent Dev Talk video, Design Director Matt Scronce elaborated on the essential alterations designed to enhance gameplay.
Movement Mechanics Revamped
A key highlight from the upcoming game is a comprehensive overhaul of movement dynamics. Notably, players will no longer need the Dexterity Perk to aim down sights while executing slides, dives, or wall jumps. These actions will be available by default, aiming to provide the “most fluid experience”possible. While Dexterity will still offer a speed advantage, this change aims to streamline gameplay.
Additionally, mantling over obstacles has been accelerated, while the slide speed has been deliberately reduced. This adjustment encourages more tactical engagements rather than relying on sliding during combat.

Enhanced Footstep Audio for Strategic Play
Another critical update addresses player concerns regarding footstep audio. Many beta participants found it challenging to detect enemy movements due to the low volume. The sound level will be significantly elevated in the full launch, facilitating better spatial awareness amidst the chaos of battle. Scronce remarked, “We’re very pleased with these adjustments, which should promote stealth-oriented playstyles without overly relying on the Ninja Perk.”
Revamping Perk Combinations
Exciting changes are also on the horizon for perks. Scronce mentioned the realignment of specific perks into various slots and the merging of lesser-used options to enhance their appeal. Below is what players can expect:
- Shadow now combines with Engineer, allowing players to spot equipment through walls without triggering traps.
- Vendetta has been integrated with Assassin, enabling players to locate their last killer and highlight enemies on a kill streak.
- Melee enthusiasts will appreciate the new combination of Bruiser with Close Shave, which now enables automatic melee executions and grants health boosts per kill.
- The Hunter’s Instinct ability, which points to the nearest enemy after a kill, will be merged with Tracker, enhancing footstep tracking capabilities.
- Finally, Quartermaster will combine with Gearhead, ensuring players never run out of equipment during matches.
All of these enhancements are set to be included in Black Ops 7 upon its release on November 14. Be sure to visit our wiki for detailed guides and strategies to maximize your gameplay experience.
