On October 5, 2024, the official Aniplex YouTube channel unveiled a special 20th Anniversary promotional video for Bleach, commemorating the anime’s premiere two decades earlier on the same date. This promotional video featured some of the most iconic scenes from Ichigo’s journey, reimagined in a contemporary animation style.
The Bleach manga received its initial anime adaptation on October 5, 2004, concluding with a total of 366 episodes on March 27, 2012. A sequel series, which began airing on October 11, 2022, is segmented into four parts, with the third part currently airing in the Fall 2024 Anime Season.

The promotional video starts with a countdown back to the airing date of the very first episode (October 5, 2004) and features the scene where Ichigo meets Rukia rendered in a fresh animation style reminiscent of the Thousand Year Blood War arc. Subsequently, the video highlights moments from the Soul Society arc, where Ichigo confronts formidable foes Kenpachi Zaraki and Byakuya Kuchiki, before transitioning into the Hueco Mundo arc, showcasing his battles against Grimmjow and Aizen Sousuke.
The concluding segment of the video illustrates Ichigo’s evolution from human to Soul Reaper, Hollow, and ultimately to his current form. The video wraps up by recognizing the talented staff members responsible for animating the series, featuring images of notable villains such as Yhwach and Aizen Sousuke.
The anime series is produced by Studio Pierrot, renowned for animating popular series like Naruto, Black Clover, and Akudama Drive. This studio is also handling the animation for the ongoing sequel series, Thousand Year Blood War, with the first episode of its third part premiering on October 5, 2024.
Bleach Synopsis
Bleach is a Shounen anime focused on Ichigo Kurosaki, a high school student whose ordinary life is disrupted by the appearance of a Hollow, a malevolent entity born from human souls that preys on others. He is rescued by Rukia, a mysterious girl who gets injured in the process and is unable to combat the Hollow.
At her request, Ichigo accepts her powers, transforming into a Soul Reaper and successfully defeating the Hollow. Unfortunately, once the crisis resolves, Rukia loses her abilities and has to remain with Ichigo, who then takes on the responsibility of hunting Hollows in the human realm. However, the threat from Hollows is just the beginning, as other dangers lurk beyond.
