In a recent Q&A session, Tite Kubo, the mastermind behind *Bleach*, provided insight into a significant query regarding the Quincies, resulting in newfound clarity for fans.
The *Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War* arc unfolds with the resurrection of Yhwach, the ruler of the Quincies, who returns to the scene after a millennium since his supposed demise. To seize greater power, Yhwach employs a method known as “Auswählen,” which siphons abilities from all existing Quincies.
This technique led to the demise of Ichigo and Uryu’s mothers, yet many Quincies survived the ordeal. For quite some time, this aspect of the narrative was perceived as a plot inconsistency, but Kubo has now shed light on the situation. On a fansite called Klub Outside, Kubo responded to a query shared on October 21, 2024.
The 689th question posed was about the consecration that occurs towards the series’ conclusion, specifically regarding how the Bambies and Buzzbee continue to utilize their holy glyphs without any indication of their powers being completely stripped. Could it be that the older Quincies were fully consecrated first, considering their generation might have required significantly more power?
Kubo elaborated, stating, “The powers extracted come first from older and weaker Quincies. The Bambies and Bazz-B are younger and possess substantial abilities, making them more resilient against Auswählen, which is why they only experienced a reduction in their powers.”
In a new Q&A, BLEACH creator Tite Kubo revealed that Auswählen removes power from the oldest & weakest Quincy first, which is why the Bambis & Bazz-B weren’t as affected. He also mentioned them being young & highly capable as to why it diminished their power but didn’t kill them. pic.twitter.com/q8aJuoAg91

A well-known *Bleach* fan account on Twitter/X shared this information, sparking reactions among viewers. One fan enthusiastically exclaimed, “ABOUT TIME WE GOT AN ANSWER!! It seems like my headcanon regarding Uryu’s injuries leading to Jugram’s weakened state makes much more sense now.”
Another fan expressed, “This seemed so obvious during the manga’s run, but some argued that Auswählen was inconsistent. It clearly diminishes the powers of older and weaker Quincies like Robert or Uryu’s mother while only weakening stronger youngsters like Masaki, who fell victim to Grand Fisher.”
Another fan chimed in, stating, “Big thanks to whoever raised this question because I’ve always been curious about the inconsistencies surrounding Auswählen. This clarification helps clarify a lot.”
