Blue Box Anime Announces October 2024 Release Date and Reveals Theme Songs in Main Trailer

Blue Box anime is set to premiere on October 3, 2024, as confirmed by the anime’s official staff through the main promotional video and visual. The promotional clip has also provided a preview of the show’s opening and ending theme songs. Additionally, a new key visual has been revealed on the anime’s official site. Netflix will stream the series in conjunction with its airing in Japan.

Produced by Telecom Animation Film, the Blue Box anime is an adaptation of Koji Miura’s original romantic-comedy and sports manga series. Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump has been serializing the manga, which currently has 16 tankobon volumes published.

Blue Box anime’s main trailer and visual confirm October 3, 2024, release date

The official website and X (formerly Twitter) account for the Blue Box anime shared the main trailer on Saturday, September 7, 2024. According to the video, the anime will premiere in Japan on October 3, 2024, at 11:56 PM JST, on TBS and its 28 affiliated channels.

Additionally, Netflix has confirmed it will stream the series weekly starting October 3, 2024. However, the company noted that the release times may vary by country. Episodes will be available on the platform soon after their TV broadcast. Besides Netflix, the Blue Box anime will also be available on more than 25 streaming services in Japan.

The main trailer for the Blue Box anime illustrates characters Chinatsu, Taiki, Hina, and others diligently engaged in their club activities and exploring love. The clip also reveals the opening theme, Same Blue, performed by Official HiGE DANdism, and the ending theme song, Teenage Blue, by Eve.

The official staff has also shared a key visual for the anime, showcasing the protagonist, Taiki Inomata, alongside his love interest, Chinatsu Kano.

Other characters, including Hina Chono, Kyo Kasahara, and Kengo Haryu, are depicted in the background. The visual captures a moment of connection between Chinatsu and Taiki, with their friends observing them, setting the stage for their romantic comedy journey.

Cast and staff for the Blue Box anime

Shoya Chiba stars in this rom-com anime as Taiki Inomata, while Reina Ueda voices his love interest, Chinatsu Kano. Akari Kito joins the voice cast as Hina Chono, and Yuma Uchida voices Kengo Haryu. Chiaki Kobayashi provides the voice for Kyo Kasahara.

Directed by Yuichiro Yano at Telecom Animation Film, the anime features script supervision by Yukio Kakihara. Character designs are by Miho Tanino, known for his work on the Tower of God anime, while UNLIMITED PRODUCE by TMS is responsible for planning and producing the series.

Shueisha’s MANGA Plus platform publishes the manga in English, describing the story as follows:

“Taiki Inomata is on the boys’ badminton team at sports powerhouse Eimei Junior and Senior High. He’s in love with basketball player Chinatsu Kano, the older girl he trains with every morning in the gym. One Spring day, their relationship takes a sharp turn…And thus begins this brand-new series of love, sports, and youth!”

The anime will highlight the unique chemistry between Taiki and Chinatsu as they discover previously unrecognized aspects of themselves.
