Blue Exorcist Season 3: When does the Shimane Illuminati Saga arc come out?

Taken from the manga of the same name by Kazue Kato, the Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga arc marks the third season of the franchise. And it’s not very new: the paper story was launched in 2007, and its anime adaptation began in 2011. Season 2 was broadcast in 2017, both seasons being produced under the A-1 banner Pictures.

However, it was studio VOLN that took over to adapt the franchise, with director Daisuke Yoshida at the helm. Toshiya Ono is the screenwriter, while Yurie Oohigashi is the character designer for this season. This new part of Blue Exorcist will cover volumes 10 to 15 of the manga.

Blue Exorcist Season 3 Date and Time

The Blue Exorcist season 3 release date has been set for January 6, 2024, on Crunchyroll.

As the official schedule of the simulcast site has not yet confirmed its release time, nothing is official. However, the episode will be released on January 7 at 12:30 a.m. in Japan. With the time difference, we can therefore estimate an outing in France on January 6, a little after 4:30 p.m.

According to the official website of the Blue Exorcist anime, the summary of the Shimane Illuminati saga is as follows: “Rin and his friends successfully defeated the Impure King after his resurrection in Kyoto and returned to their daily lives at the True Cross Academy.”

“However, the Knights of the True Cross begin to receive an increasing number of inquiries about demons, as a wave of strange events spreads across the world. Meanwhile, Rin and the other Exwires work to solve a mysterious phenomenon plaguing the school.

“But while the True Cross Academy Festival is in full swing, Lucifer suddenly appears. He declares war on the Knights of the True Cross – to resurrect the demon god Satan and unite the human kingdom, Assiah, and the demon kingdom, Gehenna, into one.”
