Since the inception of the Borderlands franchise, Claptrap has been a prominent figure—the quirky, one-wheeled robot notorious for his loud humor and persistent chatter. However, for the first time, players will have the much-anticipated option to limit his incessant babble.

While Claptrap has earned his place as a beloved character within the series, his tendency to be overly talkative can greatly frustrate gamers. This annoyance is largely intentional; nonetheless, many players have found his constant quips and unyielding presence while traversing the game world to be quite exasperating.

In an exciting development for Borderlands 4, a new feature has been unveiled that allows players to control Claptrap’s volume. As shared by Chadly on X, the upcoming installment will introduce a dedicated volume slider specifically for Claptrap, giving players the ability to tailor his audio input or silence him completely.

Borderlands 4: Volume Control for Claptrap Sparks Mixed Reactions

Chadly’s announcement included an image showcasing the game’s settings menu, prominently featuring a slider labeled ‘Claptrap Volume.’ This innovative addition has generated excitement among fans.

The community has reacted enthusiastically to this enhancement. One gamer expressed relief, stating, “Thank God. I think most people are tired of him.” Others reflected their satisfaction with comments like “they cooked” and “Gearbox god damn cooked with this game.”

However, not all players are eager to mute Claptrap. Some have humorously speculated that the volume adjustment feature could lead to an unexpected outcome where Claptrap’s volume actually becomes even more overwhelming. One user quipped, “They should have made it so the lowest was 110%, ” while another predicted, “Goes up to 1000%, which you’ll just hear cursed, blown out reverb meme-quality audio.” The wildest speculation? “Plot twist: it doesn’t actually affect how loud he is.”

Though it’s not out of character for the Borderlands series to insert comedic elements into gameplay mechanics, whether the Claptrap volume slider is serious or a mere gag will be clarified when the game launches in September.
