Boruto is turning into Eren Yeager (& his foresight ability proves it)

Despite the widespread theory among fans that the protagonist in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga has the ability to time travel, the evidence presented in the series suggests that the Hokage’s son may have the power to see into the future, similar to Eren Yeager in Attack on Titan.

It is common knowledge among anime enthusiasts that Eren Yeager gained the ability to see the future by kissing Historia’s hand, which activated the Attack Titan’s powers through her royal blood and Grisha Yeager’s memories. Despite his efforts, Eren was unable to alter the outcome and ultimately had to come to terms with the impending tragedy.

The Potential of Boruto’s Jougan: Foresight and Beyond

Ever since the anime began, the Jougan has remained an enigmatic dojutsu, granting the protagonist the ability to detect any potentially harmful chakra. Although the dojutsu’s nature was shrouded in mystery, it did not hold much significance for the protagonist until it caught the attention of Momoshiki Otsutsuki.

Upon noticing the Jougan, Momoshiki was immediately convinced that the Hokage’s son had an intriguing destiny awaiting him. This notion was reinforced by Otsutsuki during their conversation in the astral realm, following his defeat in the battle.

Momoshiki mentioned during the conversation that Boruto appeared to possess the Otsutsuki’s power. Despite not being a full-blooded Otsutsuki, his lack of experience prevented him from fully understanding his fate. However, Momoshiki was able to catch a glimpse of the protagonist’s future and cautioned him that his eyes would eventually be the cause of losing everything.

Although it could be argued that Momoshiki’s predictions were solely based on the protagonist’s Jougan, his actions towards the end of the first manga hinted at a different explanation.

Towards the conclusion of the initial manga series, when Eida’s power took effect, Momoshiki was convinced that his host would succumb to hopelessness and allow the Otsutsuki to seize control. However, Boruto’s strong mental resilience prevented Momoshiki from gaining control.

Despite this, Momoshiki’s thoughts revealed that he had not foreseen this turn of events. It alluded to his ability to see into his host’s future, a trait shared by all Otsutsuki who possess the Byakugan.

Due to this, it is believed that Boruto would possess the ability to see into the future if he were to be fully Otsutsuki. Fortunately, after being killed by Kawaki, Momoshiki’s attempt to revive himself resulted in Boruto becoming a complete Otsutsuki. As a result, it is speculated that this could be the reason for Boruto’s dojutsu unlocking its full potential, granting him the power of foresight.

Despite the theory being viewed as far-fetched by some fans, there were two instances where the protagonist was able to glimpse into the future. One of these occasions was a scene created specifically for the anime, in which the protagonist utilized his foresight ability to battle Urashiki Otsutsuki. The other instance took place in the manga, when the protagonist experienced a vision of the future after being swapped with Kawaki as a result of Eida’s Omnipotence Shinjutsu.

These occurrences imply that the main character acquired the foresight power through his Jougan and has been utilizing it in the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex manga.

Throughout the sequel manga, there have been multiple instances that suggest the protagonist has knowledge beyond what he has revealed. Despite a three-year gap, he was aware of the precise moment when Code planned to launch his attack on Konoha.

Despite the assumption that Boruto was monitoring Code, this was not feasible as he had no way to access Code’s hideout until later. In fact, it was not until chapter 4 that the main character was able to reach the Ten Tails’ location.

Furthermore, he was aware of other matters that should have been unknown to him, such as Code utilizing his chakra to summon Claw Grimes, Sarada informing Shikamaru about the concept of Omnipotence during the three-year period, and the potential of encountering four God Trees at Code’s secret base.

The main character was unable to predict such events unless he possessed the ability to see into the future. These recent developments indicate that Boruto may have activated Jougan’s foresight capability.

Despite unlocking the ability, the protagonist has been attempting to manipulate events in his favor to some degree. Nevertheless, it is clear that his destiny is partially predetermined. This is implied by Kashin Koji’s statement, which indicated that Boruto had prior knowledge of the God Trees’ attack. Despite this knowledge, the protagonist was unable to intervene.

Similar to Eren Yeager from Attack on Titan, who was unable to change the future but was ultimately forced to come to terms with it, Boruto may also be faced with the same fate.
