Despite being a common practice since their peak in the 2000s, fans of Bleach and Naruto often engage in online debates about their respective series. Recently, on X, one fan made a peculiar statement that Sousuke Aizen and Kisuke Urahara possess a high level of intelligence when it comes to their strategic abilities in battles.
This claim sparked strong reactions from numerous Bleach fans, particularly after a user on X stated that Naruto characters were more intelligent in terms of battle IQ. While this analysis is heavily biased, it serves as an illustration of how fandoms may make exaggerated claims for attention online, despite evidence from both series proving otherwise.
This article includes spoilers for both series.
Naruto and Bleach fans clash over Urahara and Aizen’s strategic prowess in battle
A fan of Naruto on X created a tier list comparing the characters’ battle IQ between these two series, with Sousuke Aizen and Kisuke Urahara ranking in the lower “Kinda smart”category. All other characters were from Masashi Kishimoto’s manga and were ranked higher than those from Tite Kubo’s.
The claim sparked significant outrage online, which is understandable given Aizen and Urahara’s impressive battle IQ demonstrated throughout the series. Urahara, in particular, played a crucial role in teaching Ichigo Kurosaki how to effectively wield his Shinigami powers. He devised strategic tactics to seal a Hogyoku-merged Aizen and skillfully defeated Askin Nakk Le Vaar with the help of Grimmjow.
On the contrary, Aizen is a natural fighter, as demonstrated in his battle against his former Captain, Shinji Hirako. He swiftly adjusted to the changes in his senses caused by Shinji’s Zanpakuto abilities, showcasing his prodigious skills.
In addition, Aizen had already strategized to eliminate Yamamoto from the battle during the Fake Karakura Town arc and utilized Kyoka Suigetsu upon encountering Yhwach in the final arc, securing an advantage against the Quincy leader even after he absorbed the powers of the Soul King.
Reactions Online
The online responses were quite expected, given that many fans of Bleach are aware of Aizen and Urahara’s impressive battle IQ and consider them to be among the most intelligent characters in the series. This places them on par with the top contenders in Naruto when it comes to strategic thinking in battles.
Additionally, many fans argued that Mayuri Kurotsuchi deserves to be included in this discussion as well, particularly due to his impressive feats against Pernida in the Thousand-Year Blood War arc. Mayuri has long been recognized for his keen intellect, and his past battles have demonstrated his ability to quickly adapt to unexpected challenges, showcasing his exceptional combat IQ.
“Uruhara > And where’s mayuri? Read his fight against Pernida,”someone said.
“I don’t want to be biased Urahara is more intelligent than Itachi and show better feats in Tybw and also Myuri also more intelligent than any Naruto character. If you think I am bleach fan but I am not,”another person said.
“Urahara and aizen at kinda smart is probably the worst take i’ve ever seen when they are the two smartest characters in all of the big 3,”someone else said.
It is evident that Kubo has intentionally portrayed Mayuri, Aizen, and Urahara as the intellectual and strategic minds of the series. These characters stand out not only for their strength, but also for their ability to adapt and quickly devise plans in the world of Bleach.
“Forget Aizen, Urahara is easily #1 by feats and so is Mayuri Urahara’s use of gigai, seals, planning and general adaptation is second to none and whatever Mayuri does feels like an asspull because it’s so ridiculous,”someone said.
“Mayuri, urahara and Aizen smarter than all Above lol”another person said.
Undoubtedly, the friendly banter between Naruto and Bleach enthusiasts is all in good spirit. However, considering their impressive feats and accomplishments, Aizen and Urahara certainly deserve a higher ranking in terms of battle intelligence.
