Capcom Legend Hideaki Itsuno Leaves Company After 30 Years

Legendary director Hideaki Itsuno has departed from Capcom after being with the company for more than 30 years. He has revealed that he will now be focusing on creating a new game in a different setting.

Capcom is responsible for creating some of the most iconic video game franchises in history, including Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Monster Hunter, and Mega Man.

Despite having spent over 30 years at Capcom, director Hideaki Itsuno has announced his departure from the company to pursue new projects in a different “environment.”His successful work on the Devil May Cry and Dragon’s Dogma franchise will surely be missed.

Itsuno officially announced his resignation from the company in a recent post on X (previously known as Twitter) on August 31, 2024. In the post, he expressed his gratitude to fans for their unwavering support of the games he had contributed to and assured them that his departure from Capcom would not mark the end of his involvement in the gaming industry.

“Itsuno announced that he will be departing from Capcom after a tenure of 30 years and 5 months in August 2024.”

“I am grateful for your ongoing support for the games and characters that I have worked on. I sincerely hope that you will continue to show your support for Capcom’s games and characters.”

The seasoned video game developer then hinted at his plans for the future, revealing that he would embark on a new project starting in September 2024.

In September, I will embark on creating a new game in a different setting… My goal is to produce enjoyable and visually stunning games that can rival, or even surpass, the ones I have previously developed.

Itsuno has been at the helm of every Devil May Cry title since 2003 and most recently took charge of Capcom’s highly-anticipated Dragon’s Dogma 2, which was released in 2024, more than ten years after the first installment. Throughout his 30-year tenure at the company, Itsuno has served as director for 17 games from various Capcom series.

At the moment, Itsuno has not yet revealed any information about his upcoming video game project or his collaborators. Rest assured, we will keep you informed as more details are released.
