Doug “Censor”Martin, renowned for his prowess in fitness, achieved a remarkable feat by setting the world record for pull-ups in a 24-hour span. However, this achievement has recently been eclipsed by another competitor.

On November 7, 2024, Censor’s impressive tally of 9, 250 pull-ups earned him recognition as a Guinness World Record holder. Initially, the attempt faced rejection from the Guinness World Records (GWR) organization, but it was later validated during a collaboration with the charity Project Purple.

Just months after his groundbreaking achievement, Censor’s journey was even documented in a film aimed at detailing his rigorous training and determination. Yet, on February 2, 2025, a new contender emerged to seize the title from him.

Justin Truett Breaks Censor’s Record

On February 2, well-known YouTuber and fitness advocate Justin Truett surpassed Censor’s record, completing a stunning 10, 001 pull-ups—751 more than his predecessor. Truett unveiled his record-breaking endeavor on Instagram, highlighting that he still had six hours left on the clock when he reached this milestone.

Truett previously attempted this record about a year ago but withdrew from the challenge. Reflecting on his journey, he shared a poignant message about overcoming setbacks.“Sometimes I think of my decision to quit and if I truly never attempted the record again. What else would I quit in life just because it’s hard? I’m thankful I don’t have to live with that. The pain of regret far outweighs the pain of my hands shredding and arms aching, ” he expressed.

This achievement did not go unnoticed by celebrities and fitness enthusiasts alike, including the hard-hitting motivational speaker David Goggins, who expressed support for Truett during this humbling accomplishment.“It was incredible to see how invested he was into my success as well, ” Truett mentioned, acknowledging the many individuals who played a part in his journey to victory.
