Lee Chaeyeon and AB6IX Woojin open up about their experience of being expelled from JYP Entertainment, along with Daehwi.
On May 8, Lee Chaeyeon, former member of IZ*ONE and soloist, hosted the 15th episode of “Inssadong Sulzzi”on the YouTube channel Studio Usog.
The female idol introduced her best friends, AB6IX Woojin and Donghyun, who had trained alongside her, on this particular day.
During the entire broadcast, the trio showcased their amusing chemistry and antics, fondly recalling the period before they each made their debuts.
Specifically, Chaeyeon recounted their initial meeting as trainees at JYP Entertainment, noting that there were approximately 50 individuals practicing in a single room.
During that moment, the idol began to talk about trainees who were let go, and we all shared a heartfelt laugh as Donghyun chimed in:
“(Trainees are being cut off) out of nowhere.”
Upon hearing this, Woojin and Chaeyeon both agreed to share their experiences of being kicked out of JYP on almost the same day. Chaeyeon then added:
“We were supposed to get kicked out on the same day. They told me later. It was supposed to be on the same day, but I had to go earlier. I ended up going earlier and everybody came to cheer me up. We were all sobbing. He (Woojin) was there, too.”
Woojin proceeded to further elaborate on the story, stating:
“2 people left that day. It was Daehwi and Chaeyeon. She was the best trainee among us, and Daehwi felt like he was already part of JYP. They were perfect. But they were leaving! Everyone was shook. How could this be? How can this happen? How could they leave? I was in the stairwell, thinking, I just couldn’t fathom why.
The new schedule then came out later, but my name wasn’t on the rap lesson. I texted them, ‘Hi, am I not taking rap lessons anymore?’ (The staff responded) ‘Oh Woojin!’ It’s too upsetting to say this out loud.”
Mimicking the staff, Chaeyeon made the decision to say it at that moment.
“Oh, Woojin, you’re still here?’ Everyone who had to leave was already out but ‘Woojin, you’re still here?’ Come up for a sec.’”
Additionally, Woojin added:
“The day she left, I was like, ‘It’s me next time,’ we were all laughing, but it was true. I was like what is happening? It turned out that 3 people had left. I was scarred for life. I was totally on my own. But it wasn’t that bad. I got all the attention. Everyone is sad because of me. They bawled.”
As a final gesture, Donghyun concluded the conversation by preserving it as a cherished memory of their “youth,”stating:
“We were so young at the time and didn’t have much experience in going through a loss. The emotions were bigger.”
