Chaeyeon’s Controversial Instagram Post and the Accusations Against Her

On X, K-pop fans were upset when Chaeyeon deleted her selfie due to false accusations made by supporters of IVE Rei, which they found to be completely unreasonable.

On August 3, Lee Chaeyeon, formerly of IZ*ONE and now a soloist, posted selfies on Instagram showcasing her outfit of the day from local brands.

Despite having her face obscured, the female idol’s fair skin, long legs, and perfect physique were highlighted in all three photos, accentuating her beauty.

To add more interest to her post, she decided to draw on her photos. One picture, in particular, caught a lot of attention when she wrote “OOTD”and two vertical designs on it.

This picture was posted on X, and the original poster directly accused Chaeyeon of imitating IVE Rei, who had drawn the same doodle beforehand. As per certain internet users, the artwork was not created using a filter.

As a result, the female idol was accused of taking it from her junior. This sparked negative responses from DIVEs (IVE fandom) as they believed that Rei was being unfairly dismissed from something she had initiated.

Chaeyeon was then faced with criticism not only on X, but also in the comment section of her Instagram, leading to a heated situation. In order to address the issue, the singer had to provide an explanation. With her head bowed, she began to speak:

“Oh, I really didn’t know that. I’m so sorry.”

After editing her post and tagging IVE Rei, she ultimately chose to delete the controversial photo. This decision disappointed CHERISH (Chaeyeon’s fandom) as they felt that the star was unfairly forced to remove the photo and apologize for an “absurd”reason, despite Rei not being the owner of the doodle.

It was believed that Rei, being a junior to Chaeyeon and a friend of her fellow IVE members Jang Wonyoung and An Yujin, would not have any objections to Chaeyeon using the same doodle since they both received support from others.

CHERISH is leaving positive comments on her Instagram, including phrases such as:

  • “Whoever left that comment was absolutely rude Chaeyeon. Don’t listen to them, you did a trend, there is nothing wrong with it. You did amazing.”
  • “Had to remove the picture because of those lowlife fans. Those fans really need to touch the grass.”
  • “There’s nothing wrong with you, Chaeyeon.”
  • “You don’t need to apologize for joining a trend. I love you!”
