Popular culinary influencer Mr. Tendernism has publicly addressed a recent incident involving TikTok sensation Keith Lee, who was thwarted by security while trying to leave a $5, 000 tip after dining at his establishment.

A new wave of reviewers, led by personalities such as Keith Lee, has captivated audiences by showcasing various dining experiences. In a much-anticipated visit to Destination Smokehouse, one of the most frequently suggested spots by his followers, Keith Lee attempted to show his appreciation by offering a generous $4, 000 tip to chef Walter ‘Mr. Tendernism’ Johnson. He planned to add an additional $1, 000 to cover tips for the rest of the staff. Unfortunately, security intervened, citing concerns over Lee’s filming of a podcast as the reason for their intervention.

Response from Destination Smokehouse Regarding Keith Lee’s Review
The incident sparked a notable backlash against Destination Smokehouse, particularly from Keith Lee’s devoted fanbase. In response, Mr. Tendernism and the restaurant’s pitmaster, Nick Yepremain, clarified that they had been engaged in the recording of a podcast when Lee attempted to leave the tip. They extended an invitation for Keith to revisit the restaurant to resolve any misunderstandings.
“Had I known he was there, I would have likely asked for a brief pause in our recording to speak with him, ” Yepremain stated during an appearance on the Willie D Live YouTube show. He also expressed disappointment, stating that Keith’s review did not accurately capture the essence of dining at their establishment.“It’s disheartening because social media popularity can overshadow genuine experiences, ” he added.
Johnson, the chef, also expressed his desire to collaborate with Keith Lee on a podcast to clarify the situation.“We need to have a podcast episode to clear the air. There’s been a misunderstanding here, ” he said, looking forward to resolving the matter.“It’s 2026; it’s time to set things straight.”
As of now, Keith Lee has not reacted to the outreach from Destination Smokehouse, leaving the door open for a potential reconciliation. Whether he will return to the popular eatery remains uncertain.
