Chris Hemsworth teases new Thor movie after failing to “stick landing” with Love & Thunder

Chris Hemsworth has stated that he desires to create another Thor film, confessing that he cannot forgive himself for his involvement in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Despite being one of the few Marvel stars to potentially have a four-movie franchise of his own, Hemsworth’s last film as Thor, Love and Thunder, did not receive favorable reviews from both fans and critics. As a result, the actor is determined to redeem himself and hopes to have at least one more opportunity to portray the God of Thunder.

During a press event for the upcoming Mad Max prequel Furiosa, Hemsworth openly expressed his dissatisfaction with his performance in Love and Thunder.

“According to Hemsworth’s interview with Vanity Fair, he got carried away with the improvisation and the absurdity, and ended up becoming a caricature of himself. He admits that he did not execute it well in the end.”

The actor further elaborated that, although he desires to be recognized by esteemed directors such as Christopher Nolan and Greta Gerwig, he also believes he has a responsibility to fulfill by making another Thor movie for the audience, in order to make up for the disappointment they may have experienced with Love and Thunder.

Despite surpassing the box office earnings of Thor: The Dark World, Love and Thunder only narrowly edged out the lowest-rated film in the franchise on Rotten Tomatoes by a mere one percent.

Many fans believed that Love and Thunder would surpass Thor: Ragnarok, given that both films were helmed by Taika Waititi, and Ragnarok is widely regarded as one of the standout films in the franchise.

Several critics had criticisms of the movie’s humor, with one describing it as “one continuous joke that doesn’t land.”Similarly, another review on Rotten Tomatoes expressed disappointment in the storytelling, stating that Love and Thunder had “interesting ideas”but failed to fully utilize them.

Therefore, it is logical to conclude Thor’s journey with a fifth and ultimate film. However, it is possible that he may receive his grand farewell in one of the upcoming Avengers movies.

A majority of fans strongly believe that Thor deserves a chance at redemption as a hero, following his descent into despair after failing to prevent Thanos from erasing half of the universe in Avengers: Infinity War. In Thor 5, there is potential for the God of Thunder to have a victorious and selfless moment, which could serve as a form of repayment for the perceived debt he owes to the universe.

As you anticipate more news about Thor 5, make sure to also keep an eye out for Marvel’s upcoming films, including the highly-anticipated reboot of The Fantastic Four.
