Code and Boruto May Pose Equal Threat as Shibai Otsutsuki’s Reincarnation

Throughout the series, there has been a connection between Boruto and Code. However, a recent fan theory suggests that they may serve as vessels for the reincarnation of Shibai Otsutsuki. Momoshiki has mentioned that Shibai achieved a higher level of existence many years ago, leading some to speculate that he could potentially return by inhabiting the body of either of these characters.

The speculation about Shibai Otsutsuki’s return in Boruto has been a popular topic among fans, with many believing he may serve as the series’ ultimate antagonist. In light of this, Code’s character may have a significant part to play, given Amado’s mention of his unique role and the connection to his own Karma.

This article contains spoilers for the series, so please proceed with caution.

Explaining How Boruto and Code Could Be Connected to Shibai Otsutsuki’s Reincarnation

The origin of this theory is attributed to Code’s ability to survive after receiving Isshiki’s Karma, as he was the sole survivor of the process. This could be because Code was chosen by Shibai Otsutsuki to be his vessel, causing Isshiki’s essence to be erased from his Karma and allowing Code to remain alive. This could also account for Code’s possession of the deity’s Shinjutsu, although Amado has imposed restrictions on its use.

The protagonist also experiences this phenomenon, as he only develops half of his horns when activating his Karma. Unlike Kawaki, this signifies his status as a Shibai vessel, with the horns only appearing where he has his scar.

As a fascinating detail, Code possesses a scar on the opposite side, possibly indicating their dual function as Shibai vessels. This is reinforced by the fact that they were considered exceptional even prior to receiving Karma implantation.

Hence, one could strongly argue that Code does not currently possess Isshiki’s Karma as all those who received it from Jigen perished. It is plausible that Code’s survival is linked to his potential connection to Shibai, who has transcended to another realm and may be playing a role in keeping Code alive.

The Role of Shibai in the Story

It is undeniable that Shibai Otsutsuki is arguably the most enigmatic character in both Boruto and the entire Naruto universe. This is due to his portrayal as the God of the Otsutsuki and his ability to defy death, ultimately ascending to a higher state of being that no other character has achieved in the series.

As previously discussed, many fans believe that Shibai will ultimately be revealed as the final antagonist in the series, and this theory seems plausible. The manner in which his character has been introduced and the constant threat of the Otsutsuki to humanity create a compelling possibility. However, it remains to be seen what direction author Masashi Kishimoto will take in the future.

Final Thoughts

Upon further examination, the possibility of these two characters having a connection to Shibai Otsutsuki could potentially lead to their involvement in his resurrection. This theory holds merit, particularly in regards to Code’s unique role, however it should be noted that this is currently only speculation among fans.
