In the world of Monster Hunters Wild, players encounter an array of items, each distinguished by unique levels of rarity. Among these, Chaliceweed is notably one of the rarest resources, making its acquisition a significant challenge for players. This coveted item is essential for trading with the NPC Rove, who offers exclusive goods in exchange.
If the search for Chaliceweed feels overwhelming or if you’re just beginning your farming expedition, this guide will equip you with crucial insights before you embark on your journey.
1. How to Acquire Chaliceweed in Monster Hunters Wild?
In Monster Hunters Wild, players can obtain Chaliceweed through two primary methods:
- Harvesting from Grass Algae Nodes in the Scarlet Forest.
- Catching Tuna while fishing.
1.1 Harvesting Grass Algae Nodes in the Scarlet Forest

Grass Algae Nodes are primarily located in Area 13 (beneath Wudwud Hideout) and Area 2 of the Scarlet Forest. Players can dive underwater and interact with these nodes. However, obtaining Chaliceweed is not guaranteed; it involves some luck due to the RNG (random number generation) mechanics at play.

NOTE: Utilizing the Geologist skill can enhance your gathering efficiency, increasing your chances of obtaining Chaliceweed from nodes. While this method does not guarantee a Chaliceweed spawn, it certainly boosts your odds.
Once you’ve extracted all available Chaliceweed from the Grass Algae Nodes, consider participating in an Optional Quest within the Scarlet Forest to reset their respawn timers, allowing you to gather more quickly.
1.2 Fishing for Tuna
If diving is not your preference, fishing for Tuna presents another opportunity to acquire Chaliceweed, although this method is generally less reliable than harvesting from Grass Algae Nodes.

Tuna can be found in Area 17 of the Scarlet Forest. To increase your chances of success, use Tuff Joint Bait, which is obtainable through the side quest titled “Kaya’s Catch of a Lifetime!”
NOTE: Adjust your ecosystem settings to “Plenty”prior to fishing to boost the number of available fish, making it easier to catch the elusive Gastronome Tuna.
2. Utilizing Chaliceweed in Monster Hunters Wild
After gathering a sufficient amount of Chaliceweed, you can exchange it for exclusive items from Rove, located in Area 20 of Iceshard Cliffs. The selection of items you can acquire includes:
- 2x Blango Pelt+
- 2x Monster Broth
- 1x Whetfish Fin
- 3x Truffle du Conga
Keep in mind that Rove may not be available at all times; should you not find him, wait until daytime for his appearance. Additionally, Rove’s inventory is subject to frequent updates, so it’s prudent to make your trades promptly before his stock changes.
