The narrative centers around two shy colleagues – Takuya Ohara and Rika Honjoji – employed at the Tokyo branch of JTC, a travel agency. Although they do not particularly stand out among their peers, both Takuya and Rika enjoy fulfilling personal lives outside of work.

Both characters are single and maintain minimal social contact. Takuya resides alone with his pet cat, Kama, spending leisure time watching TV. Rika, on the other hand, has a peculiar interest in maps, often losing track of time as she studies them.

However, their comfortable lives face disruption when a new branch of JTC is announced to open in Anchorage, Alaska. The transfer will favor unmarried employees, and a new branch manager is needed from the Tokyo office.

In light of this, Rika suggests to Takuya that they could pretend to be married, thereby avoiding the transfer. Takuya, after some contemplation, agrees, primarily because he wishes to stay in Tokyo and care for his cat.

Unexpectedly, their coworkers become intrigued by the news of their so-called marriage, leading to numerous awkward encounters for the pair.

The show poses the intriguing question of whether this faux marriage might ultimately blossom into something genuine between the two introverted leads. To discover the answer, viewers are encouraged to follow each episode of 365 Days to the Wedding, of which only two have been released so far, with a total of twelve planned.
