This guide outlines your journey from becoming a mere Hollow to reaching the pinnacle as an Arrancar, Vasto Lorde, or even the elite Espada. Here’s a comprehensive roadmap outlining the necessary steps to thrive in Hollow Era.
Embarking on Your Hollow Journey
As the introductory scene unfolds, you’ll find yourself transformed into a Lost Soul with a distinctive chain on your chest. At this juncture, you have two main options: either pull your chain out by pressing K three times or simply wait and allow the chain to gradually break away every two minutes. Upon the complete disintegration of the chain, you will emerge as a Hollow.
You may also opt to become a Soul Reaper instead. To initiate this path, press J and seek out the sole available quest nearby. Remember, if your goal is to become a Shinigami, avoid inactivity! If you remain inactive for over six minutes, you might find yourself transforming into a Hollow instead.
Evolving into a Fishbone
Once your chain is eliminated, regardless of your chosen method, you are now designated as a “Fishbone, ”the most basic form of Hollows.Your immediate goal is to reach level 15 to evolve into a Gillian. To accumulate experience points, engage either by defeating players or by consuming other Hollows, which requires you to first weaken them.
Upon reaching level 10, you gain the ability to open a Garganta, enabling access to Hueco Mundo—a prime location for encountering additional Hollows and expediting your leveling process.
Advancing to a Gillian
Upon reaching level 15, you will evolve into a Gillian. Your central focus now is to accrue Race Progression points.These points can be obtained by defeating other Hollows or interacting with Hollow Pillars. Engage in combat with foes, and actively seek out Hollow Pillars located in Hueco Mundo.
Once sufficient Race Progression points are gathered, you’ll find yourself transported to your inner world, where you’ll need to battle and overcome five other Hollows. If you face defeat, don’t worry; you can attempt this challenge again.
Do note that the adversaries in your inner realm will grow stronger with each attempt, and successfully completing this challenge three times is essential for your evolution.
Transcending to an Adjucha
Upon successfully completing your inner challenges three times, you will transform into an Adjucha. This evolution offers two divergent paths: you can choose to become an Arrancar or a Vasto Lorde.
Continue to amass Race Progression points by defeating Hollows or consuming them, alongside collecting special Adjucha Progression items, which are specifically required for ascending to Vasto Lorde.
Here’s a breakdown of the Race Progression points awarded per kill:
- Hollow = 1 point
- Gillian = 6 points
- Adjucha = 4 points
- Vasto Lorde = 8 points
- Arrancar = 8 points
- Espada = 10 points
Bear in mind that dying results in a 1% reduction of your accumulated points. Exercise caution!
Becoming an Arrancar
If your ambition is to evolve into an Arrancar, it’s imperative to remain as an Adjucha, thus foregoing the path to Vasto Lorde. In Hueco Mundo, scout for Crystal Bushes which manifest every 30-60 minutes. By interacting with a Crystal Bush as an Adjucha, you will transform into an Arrancar.
Achieving Vasto Lorde Status
For those aiming to attain the apex of Hollow evolution, becoming a Vasto Lorde is the goal. To accomplish this, focus on two critical objectives: accumulate 800 Race Progression points and gather eight Adjucha Progression items.
Adjucha Progression items only become available after your transformation into an Adjucha, achieved through defeating specific Hollows.
Acquiring Adjucha Progression Items
Your quest as an Adjucha may yield equippable items dropped by other Hollows, essential for evolving into a Vasto Lorde. Below is a list of possible drops along with their associated probabilities:
- Hollows/Fishbones:
- Back Fins (5% drop chance)
- Fin Tail (1% drop chance)
- Gillian:
- Back Spikes (10% drop chance)
- Adjucha:
- Single Horn (25% drop chance)
- Double Horn (10% drop chance)
- Triple Horn (5% drop chance)
- Tail (5% drop chance)
- Vast Lord:
- Spiral Horn (5% drop chance)
The Path to Espada
For those wishing to rise above the Vasto Lorde, your aspiration lies in becoming an Espada. The first step is to evolve into a Vasto Lorde, the ultimate state of Hollow evolution. Then, similar to the Arrancar, ground your search for the elusive Crystal Bushes in Hueco Mundo that spawn periodically. Interacting with one as a Vasto Lorde will usher in your transformation into an Espada.
Unlocking Your Resurrection
As you ascend to either an Arrancar or an Espada, you’ll need to learn your Resurrección. To obtain this, reach level 50 and approach the King of Hueco Mundo in Las Noches. You will receive a quest requiring you to eliminate 50 Arrancar.
Upon successful completion of the quest, you’ll randomly receive one of the four Resurrección forms available in Hollow Era’s current iteration:
- Murcielago – Legendary – 1% Chance
- Arrogant – Rare – 10% Chance
- Los Lobos – Uncommon – 29% Chance

Utilizing Your Resurrection
To activate your Resurrección in Hollow Era, fill your Rage Bar by dealing or receiving damage. Once the bar is fully charged and pulsating, press “Y”to unleash your Resurrección. Should you exhaust your reiatsu or rage, the Resurrección will deactivate automatically. Alternatively, you can manually withdraw from it by holding the “Y”key.
