Conor McGregor’s highly anticipated bout with Logan Paul has officially been canceled. The notorious Irish MMA champion recently revealed that discussions surrounding the fight have halted, largely because the UFC is not interested in pursuing it any further.
In late 2024, McGregor stunned the combat sports community by announcing plans to compete against social media sensation-turned-WWE star Logan Paul. Initial reports indicated they had entered “preliminary agreements” for a boxing exhibition in India, a fight that promised an astonishing payout of $250 million.
Despite generating buzz around the matchup and even confronting the Paul brothers directly, McGregor has now confirmed that the fight is off the table. He stated, “The UFC just aren’t into it,” during a recent interview with The Schmo on January 23.

During the confrontation, McGregor faced off with the Paul brothers on inauguration day, heightening public interest in the proposed fight.
The Downfall of the McGregor-Paul Showdown
In a transparent discussion, McGregor acknowledged that although “an offer was there on the table,” the negotiations faltered due to his commitments to the UFC. He elaborated, “The offer was there on the table, in writing, both athletes – he’s not a fighter – both athletes under the TKO banner, UFC and WWE both rising up, new market in India opening up and booming.” McGregor suggested it would have been more of a sparring session rather than a traditional fight, staged for India’s elite audience.
In a significant development from 2023, both the UFC and WWE merged under the TKO Group Holdings umbrella. This corporate structure is reportedly complicating the logistics of a potential sparring match between McGregor and Paul. McGregor expressed his disappointment, stating, “This waiting period that we find ourselves in before I can get back to the octagon made perfect sense on the calendar to go ahead.” However, he noted, “The UFC weren’t into it, I’m not sure about WWE’s interest either.”
Interestingly, McGregor hinted that Paul could have been more vocal in advocating for the event, suggesting that a more proactive approach could have swayed TKO’s decision-making: “Logan just kept quiet; he didn’t say nothing. I said mate, you need to say something, open your f***ing mouth.”
For the time being, the McGregor-Paul conflict is off the agenda. However, McGregor remains open to other engagements in the influencer space, acknowledging the “astronomical money”involved. He mentioned his interest in other figures in the influencer boxing realm, including Jake Paul and KSI. Given KSI’s planned opponent recently withdrew, a potential matchup with McGregor could now be on the horizon.
Yet, this unfolding narrative is marred by more controversies, as another sexual assault allegation has been leveled against McGregor, which adds a layer of complexity to his current standing in both the sports and entertainment spheres.
