Contestants Sue MrBeast for “Inhumane Conditions” in Amazon’s Beast Games Show

MrBeast and Amazon are facing a lawsuit filed by contestants of the upcoming competition series, Beast Games, for allegedly creating “inhumane”working conditions. The contestants have raised serious claims concerning sexual harassment and the failure to pay minimum wage.

On September 16, 2024, a formal complaint was submitted to the Los Angeles Superior Court, citing “chronic mistreatment” experienced by participants involved in the production of Beast Games, implicating both MrBeast and Amazon.

Beast Games is a reality competition show featuring a lucrative $5 million cash prize and is scheduled to premiere on Amazon Prime Video. Applications to compete opened to the public back in May 2024, with MrBeast announcing the need for 5,000 contestants.

The lawsuit has been initiated by five unnamed contestants but is expected to represent all participants involved.

The Beast Games boasts an impressive $5 million prize pool.

The redacted legal filing claims that MrBeast and Amazon failed to pay contestants their due wages and overtime. Furthermore, several contestants reportedly experienced sexual harassment during the production.

The lawsuit states, “Several contestants ended up hospitalized, while others reported experiencing physical and mental complications due to chronic mistreatment, degradation, and, for female contestants, hostile working conditions.”

Within the claim, it is alleged that contestants were deprived of basic necessities including food, sleep, and medical care, along with the essentials for hygiene. Notably, several participants reportedly sustained injuries while filming.

A significant portion of the lawsuit remains redacted, particularly concerning allegations of sexual harassment.

According to the lawsuit, “The female contestants collectively suffered due to the actions of [MrBeast and Amazon].” It further argues that the work environment of Beast Games created a culture of misogyny and sexism, with Production Staff remaining inaction.

In terms of wages, the complaint specifies that none of the contestants were volunteering; they were promised compensation for their participation in Beast Games. However, the lawsuit mentions that MrBeast and Amazon demanded a redacted amount from the contestants to cover the production company’s expenses.

As of now, neither MrBeast nor Amazon have publicly responded to the allegations in the lawsuit.
