Ben Willoughby faced backlash from fans after he mocked Chef Nick Tatlock for being a more experienced yachtie on Season 11 of Below Deck.
Despite facing backlash from numerous crew members on the St. David, Ben Willoughby’s behavior has remained a topic of concern throughout Below Deck Season 11.
In the May 13 episode of Below Deck, the Bosun once again directed his criticism towards the crew, this time making derogatory remarks about the age of Chef Nick Tatlock.
When Paris Field, a steward, expressed dissatisfaction with the chef at a beach picnic, Ben remarked that he should consider a different career path at 40 years old since most yacht crew members are typically younger.
Chef Nick was called out for his age on Below Deck Season 11.
On Reddit, fans of Below Deck criticized Ben for his ageist remarks towards the chef featured on the show.
“One fan expressed disgust at Ben’s statement, pointing out that the chef is only 40 years old and still actively pursuing his passion for yachting. The fan challenged the person to make the same comment about Captain Kerry, daring them to do so.”
One viewer found the comment to be “odd”because Chef Nick is not a model or athlete, and questioned whether individuals should retire from their professions before reaching the age of 40.
Another fan believed that the 25-year-old’s remark was hypocritical and that he was not in a position to criticize others since he also engages in casual relationships with members of his crew.
Despite having some conflicts with certain crew members, fans believe that Chef Nick should not be unfairly criticized for his age.
Captain Kerry Titheradge believes he should be respected on board due to his higher rank, as he has more experience in the yachting industry compared to others.
Despite the St. David crew finding Chef Nick difficult to work with, they will have to adapt and maintain a friendly demeanor for the remainder of the charter season.
