Devsisters has unveiled Cookie Run: New World, an innovative open-world action RPG that represents the most ambitious endeavor in the history of the Cookie Run franchise. This announcement was made during the DevNow 2026 livestream on March 20, where a cinematic trailer was showcased alongside early gameplay footage.
Initially known as Project N, the game is set to launch globally in 2029, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the Cookie Run series. Since its inception in 2009, Cookie Run has evolved from a simple endless runner into a diverse multi-genre ecosystem boasting over 300 million players and generating more than 1.5 trillion won in revenue.
Revolutionizing Gameplay with 3D Exploration
Cookie Run: New World signifies a transformative evolution for the franchise, transitioning from its established side-scrolling mechanics into a fully interactive 3D universe created using Unreal Engine. This bold shift aims to enhance player immersion by allowing for a vast, explorable world.
Unlike earlier titles such as Cookie Run: Kingdom, which combined RPG elements with city-building features, New World is crafted as a comprehensive action RPG where players embark on adventures after escaping from the witch’s oven, breaking free from linear paths.
The game plans to deliver a multi-platform experience, ensuring accessibility across PC, consoles, and mobile devices, with integrated cross-play functionality. This ambitious approach broadens the scope of gameplay and audience reach.
Devsisters has indicated that this project aims to unify nearly two decades of Cookie Run lore into a cohesive narrative. Players can expect to confront a new threat stemming from a “mysterious darkness, ” while navigating a rich storyline featuring beloved characters, including the franchise’s main character, GingerBrave.

Positioning for the Future
While the release is still years away, Cookie Run: New World is set to be a pivotal moment in the franchise’s evolution. The use of Unreal Engine enables superior lighting, physics, and a more expansive game world, showcasing Devsisters’ intent to compete with modern console and PC RPGs instead of merely focusing on mobile platforms.
This initiative is part of Devsisters’ broader vision for expanding the Cookie Run universe, which has been enriched through various titles, including Cookie Run: OvenBreak, Cookie Run: Kingdom, and the latest entries like CookieRun: Tower of Adventures and OvenSmash.
With its extensive open-world design and an interconnected narrative, New World represents the franchise’s most significant leap forward, aspiring to weave together its expansive character roster and story arcs into a single, engaging gameplay experience.
