Notepad has recently received a significant update, introducing table support in its version 11.2510.6.0 for Windows 11. This enhancement incorporates a new “Insert Table”feature along with the ability to utilize Markdown-compatible tables, mirroring functionalities available in Microsoft Word.
To begin using tables within Notepad, users can simply launch the application. From there, they can either click on the “Table” button located on the formatting toolbar or opt for “Insert Table.” Upon selection, you can define the number of rows and columns as needed, followed by options to edit the table via the “Table” menu or the context menu.

This update also comes with various editing capabilities. Within the table menu, the “Editing Table” submenu provides handy options to add or delete rows and columns, as well as adjust column widths for optimal viewing.

Additionally, users can create tables using Markdown syntax directly. This allows for flexibility in formatting; you can design a table in the formatted view and later switch to Markdown view to familiarize yourself with the syntax involved.

Furthermore, as part of this update, Microsoft enhances the user experience by refining the Copilot+ features. Now, tasks like Write, Rewrite, and Summarize show results faster without awaiting complete responses.
The new table functionality using Markdown became available starting with Notepad version 11.2510.6.0 for devices participating in the latest preview of Windows 11 via the Windows Insider Program. The timeline for widespread availability remains undetermined.
