Dana White Calls for Cancellation of Ridiculous Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul Fight

During a recent appearance on the Flagrant Podcast with Andrew Schulz, UFC CEO Dana White expressed his opinion on the upcoming Netflix fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, calling it “ridiculous.”

Despite the postponement of the fight, fans can still look forward to the premiere of Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul on Netflix. The new date for the fight will be announced on June 7, 2024.

The upcoming fight has sparked much discussion, and even UFC president Dana White joined in on the conversation during his appearance on Andrew Schulz’s Flagrant podcast.

During the episode, Schulz inquired about Dana’s opinion on the bout, to which the UFC President promptly replied, deeming it “ridiculous.”He expressed his belief that a 58-year-old should not be fighting a 27-year-old under any circumstances and called the matchup “f**kin ridiculous.”

White continued to express his opposition to the fight, citing his concern for Tyson’s well-being at almost 60 years old. “Jake Paul is only 27 and in his prime…and I have a lot of respect for Mike. Nobody wants to see him lose to this disrespectful individual,”Dana stated.

The topic was introduced at the time marker of 58:36.

Dana White has previously shared his thoughts on the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight, proving that this is not the first time he has spoken on the matter. In March, White clarified that he did not view the fight as a serious one, citing the significant age difference between the two opponents.

Despite the challenges, there are undeniable benefits to facing a legendary opponent like Mike Tyson. In reference to Tyson, Jake Paul stated, “He’s not looking to be taken seriously. Jake’s main goal is to make money. The audience that supports Jake Paul doesn’t typically purchase his fights, so he must compete against opponents who have a strong pay-per-view presence.”

Following the postponement of the Paul vs Tyson fight due to the health concerns of the legendary boxer, several others expressed interest in filling Tyson’s spot. Among them was Roy Jones Jr, a former opponent of Tyson, who stated that he would be prepared for a potential fight if the opportunity presented itself.
