In 2023, Octopath Traveler 2 was made available on PC, PS4, PS5, and the Nintendo Switch. Despite the lack of recent updates, a surprise update has now been released on Steam, featuring additional boss battles with recognizable characters.
Octopath Traveler 2 Update Version 1.1
The update, which is currently exclusive to Steam, was released without any prior announcement. The full patch notes for the update version 1.1 can be found in this announcement.

The most noteworthy aspect of this section is the “Extra Battles”feature, which includes three extra boss fights that become available once the game is completed. For fans of the series, I strongly suggest experiencing these battles without prior knowledge, as they may include some familiar characters that are best kept as a surprise.

- Olberic, Tressa, Ophilia, and Alfyn from Octopath Traveler 1
- Therion, Primrose, H’aanit, and Cyrus from Octopath Traveler 1
- “True Vide” , a stronger version of the regular final boss of Octopath Traveler 2
Octopath Traveler 2 has been officially announced for both Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X, with an expected release date in early 2024.
It is probable that this update will coincide with that release, and it is highly likely that we will witness the unveiling of the release date in the upcoming days at Summer Game Fest.
