Dandadan Studio Animator Breaks Silence on Anime Leak

Dandadan Studio Animator Breaks Silence on Anime Leak

The Dandadan anime is currently experiencing a significant crisis due to a Netflix breach that has resulted in the leaking of multiple episodes. Science SARU has finally addressed this controversy by breaking their silence.

On August 6, 2024, Netflix experienced a significant security breach in which several episodes of the highly-anticipated upcoming anime were leaked.

Dandadan is renowned for its dynamic fight scenes and intricate illustrations. The story follows Momo Ayase and her fellow classmate Takakura. While Momo holds a strong belief in ghosts, Takakura, a skeptic when it comes to the supernatural, is convinced that aliens exist.

To prove their point, they decide to make a wager, leading to a series of comical incidents. The tale of young romance centers on the chaotic occurrences, involving ghosts, monsters, aliens, battles, and more. Despite a breach resulting in the leak of six Dandadan episodes, other anime such as Re: Zero, Terminator, Ranma 1/2, and Mononoke the Movie were also affected.

Despite the current circumstances, animator Kass Chapa has expressed their perspective on the situation. Chapa has gained experience in various animation studios including MAPPA, A-1 Pictures, and Science SARU, the latter being responsible for the creation of Dandadan.

The animator expressed on Twitter/X, “Our hard work is intended to be released on its scheduled date, which is something we as animators eagerly anticipate. It is highly disrespectful and extremely frustrating when it is leaked prematurely. While you may believe you are helping the community, in reality you are not.”

“In addition, they expressed, “Studios will continue to question our truthfulness and integrity, as they already do. I hope they take legal action against whoever is responsible. It doesn’t matter to me.”

In a separate comment, the person stated, “I supported Mononoke’s movie through Kickstarter and I intend to watch it through legal means when it is released in my country. The same goes for Dandadan through Netflix. I have a great respect for their work. If you have a negative opinion towards animators and our work, please express it openly.”

Some fans of anime have shown their support, with one individual tweeting, “I hope you can keep creating your work. Measures should also be taken to prevent any future leaks.”

Another person expressed their sadness upon seeing the leaked titles. They hoped that the situation would be resolved quickly, but acknowledged that the damage may have already been done.

A third individual commented, “I am truly astounded by the immaturity and motives behind the actions of leakers. Why do they feel the need to harm the community in this way?”
