Deadpool & Wolverine Rotten Tomatoes score barely cracks top 20 MCU movies

The movie Deadpool & Wolverine has received a fresh certification on Rotten Tomatoes – however, it does not rank among the top movies of the MCU in terms of its score.

The success of Deadpool & Wolverine has been highly anticipated for three main reasons. Firstly, it follows a particularly difficult year for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with The Marvels having the lowest box office earnings in 2023.

In addition, the highly anticipated debut of Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth comes after years of Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Furthermore, Hugh Jackman makes a comeback as Wolverine following his departure from the role in the critically acclaimed film Logan.

Has the film lived up to the expectations? Based on its Rotten Tomatoes score, it appears that the answer is affirmative – however, the reactions have been varied.

As of now, the Rotten Tomatoes score for Deadpool & Wolverine stands at 80%, based on 141 reviews.

This indicates that it has been certified as fresh by Rotten Tomatoes. However, it is important to keep in mind the functioning of Rotten Tomatoes. A fresh rating does not necessarily translate to a perfect score of 8/10, but rather means that 80% of critics have given it a favorable review, while the remaining were more critical.

IndieWire’s review has been labeled as fresh, despite the statement that “Deadpool makes a very persuasive case that this should be the last superhero movie ever made.”

Currently, it shares the 20th spot with Captain America: The First Avenger on the MCU’s Rotten Tomatoes ranking. The top 20 movies are:

  1. Black Panther – 96%
  2. Avengers: Endgame – 94%
  3. Iron Man – 94%
  4. Thor: Ragnarok – 93%
  5. Spider-Man: No Way Home – 93%
  6. Spider-Man: Homecoming – 92%
  7. Guardians of the Galaxy – 92%
  8. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – 91%

  10. Spider-Man: Far From Home – 91%
  11. Captain America: Civil War – 90%
