Recap of the Previous Episode

Despite the arc’s primary focus on Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke reuniting and training to confront Muzan and his demons after the events at the Swordsmith Village, the latest episode also delves into the reasons behind the actions of other characters. This includes the motivations of Water Hashira Giyuu Tomioka and his reluctance to train Tanjiro.

The main focus of the episode is to delve into the reasons behind Tomioka’s reluctance to train others, a trait that sets him apart from other Hashira, including Tengen Uzui. This reluctance stems from the traumatic events he experienced during his final test with his dear friend Sabito. As it turns out, Sabito, who helped Tanjiro during his early training, was actually Tomioka’s close friend. Both of them were attempting to pass the final test for the Demon Slayer Corps, during which Sabito tragically sacrificed his life to save Tomioka.

Although Shinobu and Kanao received a lot of attention, what caught many viewers off guard was the appearance of another anime-original scene in the first episode, which centered around Sanemi Shinazugawa and Obanai Iguro, but delved into Yoriichi Tsugikuni’s history and his connection with Muzan.

The Hashira Training arc, as most manga readers are aware, does not feature any major battles. Instead, it focuses on character development and exploring their pasts through training and interactions. As a result, it is likely that episode 3 of Demon Slayer season 4 will continue to highlight these aspects and potentially introduce new anime-original scenes, similar to those showcasing Obanai and Sanemi in the first episode and Yoriichi in the most recent one.
