Demon Slayer season 4 episode 5: Anime vs. Manga comparison

With the release of the fifth episode of Demon Slayer season 4, the anime advanced through the Hashira Training program at a quicker pace. This resulted in Tanjiro participating in Mitsuri’s Flexibility Training, Obanai’s Sword Skill Revision Training, and Sanemi’s Infinite Slashing Training.

Despite being only nine chapters long in the manga, the Hashira Training Arc received additional anime-original scenes from Ufotable in order to avoid exhausting the source material. This is a trend that has been seen in previous episodes as well. In this article, we will examine the anime-original scenes included in episode 5 of Demon Slayer season 4.

Note: This article may contain spoilers from the Demon Slayer manga.

Demon Slayer: Analyzing the Differences Between the Anime and Manga

In the Demon Slayer manga, Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji offered to make pancakes and black tea for Kamado Tanjiro, but it was not depicted that she actually served them to him. However, in the anime, Mitsuri not only fulfilled her promise of serving Tanjiro buttered pancakes, but also personally fed him a few bites.

Immediately following, Mitsuri gave Tanjiro an attire to use during his Flexibility Training and requested that he put it on once he finished consuming his pancakes.

Although the Demon Slayer manga revealed Snake Hashira Obanai Iguro mentioning the contents of the letter from Mitsuri Kanroji, it did not depict his immediate reaction upon reading it.

Despite the anime not following this trend, fans were treated to a flashback of Obanai reading Mitsuri’s letter in season 4 episode 5 of Demon Slayer.

In her letter, Mitsuri conveyed that she had shared tea with Tanjiro after their training. During this time, she noticed a pattern where Tanjiro would enter a state of bliss whenever he consumed anything sweet.

Interactions between Kamado Tanjiro and other Demon Slayers

Despite being a primary character, Tanjiro Kamado was rarely shown interacting with the other demon slayers, particularly those who were considered background characters.

In line with the previous episodes, Tanjiro Kamado continues to assist the background characters in Demon Slayer season 4 episode 5. This is evident in the scene where the demon slayers take a bath together, while enduring the pain of their bruises.

Additional Scenes in Obanai’s Sword Skill Revision Training

Despite Ufotable only including brief anime-original scenes in the most recent episode of Demon Slayer, it still delivered additional anime-original battle sequences to satisfy fans. One of these scenes was featured in Obanai’s Sword Skill Revision Training program.

Tanjiro’s bokuto successfully passed the training program by slashing Obanai’s haori during the anime-exclusive scene where they engaged in a fight.

These were the only anime-original scenes we discovered in the latest episode. If there are any that we missed, please leave a comment below.
