Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc Finale: Muzan and Ubuyashiki’s Past Connection Revealed
The finale of the Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc picks up where the previous episode left off, as Muzan Kibutsuji sneaks into the Ubuyashiki mansion and comes face to face with Kagaya Ubuyashiki for the first time. Despite being blind, Ubuyashiki asks his wife Amane to describe Muzan’s appearance. Upon hearing her description, he realizes that he had always anticipated Muzan’s arrival and understands the reason for his anger towards their family.
Despite Muzan’s disappointment in Ubuyashiki’s weakened physical state, the master reveals that his unwavering determination to defeat Muzan has prolonged his life beyond expectations. The Demon King confidently proclaims that he will shatter Ubuyashiki’s dream of defeating him, but the master calmly discloses that they are actually from the same bloodline. Muzan, uninterested, questions the implications of this revelation.
Ubuyashiki discloses that their family was cursed due to giving birth to a monster like Muzan, resulting in their children being weak and dying at a young age. In order to save their family from extinction, a priest advised them to dedicate themselves to defeating the demon. To lessen the curse, they started marrying into priest families, but unfortunately, none of their family members lived beyond the age of 30.
Despite remaining unpunished for his wrongdoings for over 1,000 years, Muzan continues to doubt the truth of this story and openly mocks it. However, Ubuyashiki challenges Muzan’s skepticism by asking him about his own dreams. Surprisingly, Muzan’s heart is filled with nostalgia and relief at the sight of Ubuyashiki’s children. Ubuyashiki accurately guesses that Muzan’s dream is to achieve immortality, to which Muzan confirms and reveals that it will soon become a reality once he obtains Nezuko.
Ubuyashiki confidently informs Muzan that his dream will never come to fruition. Muzan, who is steadily approaching the couple, remarks on Ubuyashiki’s certainty regarding Nezuko’s whereabouts. Unlike Ubuyashiki, Muzan believes he has plenty of time to find her. However, Ubuyashiki corrects the Demon King, explaining that true eternity lies within the emotions and connections between people.
Despite Muzan’s dismissal of the idea as absurd, Ubuyashiki reminds him that the Demon Slayer Corps has endured for over 1,000 years despite numerous casualties. This is a testament to their unwavering resolve to defeat Muzan, which only serves to reinforce his statement. Ubuyashiki confidently states that the demise of Muzan will lead to the downfall of all demons, a statement that is confirmed by his reaction.
Ubuyashiki also notes that his passing will only serve to further solidify the Corps’ determination, particularly that of the Hashira. As Muzan prepares to attack, Ubuyashiki expresses his gratitude for being heard.
Final Battle of the Demon Slayer Hashiras: Ubuyashiki’s Strategy Traps Muzan with the Help of Tamayo
As the Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc finale draws to a close, Sanemi and his crow alert the group to a demon assault on the Ubuyashiki mansion. Tanjiro and the Hashira (except for Himejima) quickly make their way towards the master’s residence.
The focus then turns to a flashback of the Hashira gathering, during which Sanemi proposes that at least two of them stay behind to act as guards for Ubuyashiki. However, Himejima dismisses the suggestion, citing Ubuyashiki’s long-standing refusal to accept any form of protection.
Shinobu mentions that she’s been informed that none of the leaders of the family have ever agreed to have guards. The story then shifts back to the current moment, where the mansion is engulfed in flames before the rescue team arrives. Muzan’s charred body plummets to the earth and quickly begins to heal itself, seething with anger towards Ubuyashiki for orchestrating the explosion in an attempt to trap him.
Muzan observes the Hashira gathering around him and senses the arrival of more traps. He acknowledges Ubuyashiki’s ability to conceal his murderous intent. As his regeneration nears completion, Muzan is suddenly entangled by thorns of Blood Demon Art, created by exploding flesh seeds.
Despite his confusion, he struggles to break free and ponders the identity of the user. Suddenly, Tamayo emerges and strikes him, catching Muzan off guard. She discloses that the user is actually a person whom Muzan had transformed into a demon in Asakusa. Additionally, Tamayo reveals that she had a medicine in her hand that could reverse the transformation of demons into humans, which Muzan had absorbed.
Despite Muzan’s denial of its existence, Tamayo boldly claims that she has indeed completed it, provoking him to launch an attack on her. In response, he reminds her that it was she who killed her own family, not him. Overcome with guilt and remorse, Tamayo confesses her regrets and decides to sacrifice herself alongside Muzan in order to atone for her sins. This prompts Himejima to charge forward.
In the final showdown of the Hashira Training Arc in Demon Slayer, Himejima unleashes a powerful attack, shattering Muzan’s head. The story then takes a turn as Himejima remembers his initial encounter with Ubuyashiki, who had faith in his innocence. In a separate flashback, Ubuyashiki warned Himejima of Muzan’s impending assault within five days and requested him to utilize Ubuyashiki as a decoy in order to defeat the Demon King.
As the master revealed his plan, Himejima reflected on the Ubuyashiki family’s foresight. He was aware that the other Hashira would not be willing to put the Ubuyashiki family at risk, so he was entrusted with the task by the master.
Ubuyashiki was grateful for Muzan’s acceptance, and he hoped that his plan would ultimately save lives. As the flashback unfolds, it becomes clear that Ubuyashiki had foreseen that severing Muzan’s head would not lead to his death, and that only sunlight could truly defeat him.
True to this, Muzan’s head instantly begins to regenerate. Despite being blown away and weakened by Tamayo’s medicine, Himejima is amazed by Muzan’s incredible strength. He acknowledges that Muzan’s ability to regenerate surpasses even that of other demons, and makes it his mission to hold him off until sunrise. In response, Muzan retaliates with his blood whips, but Himejima easily deflects them.
The finale of episode 7 of the Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc sees the Hashira and Tanjiro joining forces to confront Muzan as the Infinity Castle Arc commences.
In the final moments of the Hashira Training Arc in Demon Slayer, as predicted by Ubuyashiki, the remaining Hashira and Tanjiro gather at the location. Himejima reveals that Muzan cannot be killed even if his head is cut off. With this knowledge, all of the Hashira and Tanjiro join forces to confront the Demon King.
Moreover, as Muzan opens the Infinity Castle, the biwa resounds, causing all the Hashira, Tanjiro, every member of the Demon Slayer Corps, and the Kasugai crows inside to be summoned. This could be attributed to Nakime’s successful locating of every demon slayer. As they are summoned, the slayers are taken aback by their unfamiliar surroundings.
The conclusion of the Hashira Training Arc sees Tanjiro confronting Muzan, who makes a promise to eliminate all demon slayers. In response, Tanjiro boldly proclaims that Muzan will be the one to perish and that he will not allow him to flee, a challenge which Muzan willingly accepts.
