Bungie, the developer of Destiny 2, has recently stated that they will be enforcing stricter regulations against players who use macro inputs. Violators may face restrictions or potentially even have their accounts banned.
The makers of Destiny 2 place a high importance on addressing cheating; in the past, they have taken legal action against cheat developers and are committed to ensuring a secure gaming experience for all Guardians. This also involves prohibiting the use of peripheral devices and hardware cheats that may give players an unfair edge in any game mode.
Bungie’s top priority is ensuring fair gameplay for all players, whether they are engaging in PvP or PvE activities. The company is actively working to prevent the use of cheats that give players an unfair advantage, such as obtaining better gear, dealing excessive damage, or exploiting unintended mechanics.
Currently, the developers are making a statement against the utilization of input macros, which are external tools capable of emulating gameplay even when the player is away from their computer.
Update to Destiny 2 Restriction and Ban Policy – Input Macro Loot Farming byu/Destiny2Team inDestinyTheGame
The Destiny 2 account on Reddit has announced that they have updated their Restriction and Ban Policy and will now be penalizing players who use input macros to automate gameplay.
Players who are found to be using automation to bypass idle detection or to gain loot through automated means may face restrictions or be banned. This includes, but is not limited to, XP, materials, and drops such as Exotic class items.
It should be noted that these changes have only been put into effect, meaning that players who have previously used these tools will not be punished retroactively. However, those caught using them after the implementation of these changes will not be as fortunate.
Bungie reassured that they are aware of players with accessibility needs using these tools. They have added a final note to ensure that those using the tools for legitimate reasons will not face punishment.
“As a concluding remark, we prioritize accessibility in games. As we constantly explore ways to enhance accessibility options in Destiny 2, we assure that players using macros for accessibility purposes will not face any consequences.”
