A video game developer has finally fulfilled a long-awaited promise that fans feared would never materialize: the provision of a free game that was initially promised seven years ago.
Those in Japan who participated in a raffle for a complimentary “day-one”edition of the upcoming Inazuma Eleven anime football game back in 2018 are now receiving confirmation letters, allowing them to redeem their prize with the game’s launch set for later this month.
Developer Fulfills Seven-Year-Old Promise
The giveaway campaign originally took place while the game was still titled Inazuma Eleven Ares, with an intended release date in 2018. Fast forward seven years, and after several delays, the game has been rebranded as Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road, which is now scheduled for release on November 13.
According to a report by Automaton, winners of the giveaway received a formal apology and clear instructions on redeeming their digital copies as of October 30. The message acknowledged the “significant delay”and underscored Level-5’s dedication to honoring the original campaign despite the extended wait.
One winner expressed their disbelief at the validity of their prize after so much time had passed, remarking that their child had transitioned from elementary school to high school during the delay between winning the raffle and receiving the redemption details.
Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road signifies the much-anticipated comeback of Level-5’s cherished football RPG series. However, it’s the unexpected goodwill gesture that is drawing positive feedback from fans online, with many celebrating Level-5’s commitment to keeping their promises.
The game is set to launch on November 13 and will be available on multiple platforms, including Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC via Steam, and Xbox Series X/S.
