A Rich Tapestry of Nine Seasons
According to Phillips, the new series draws heavily on the rich lore established over nine seasons of the previous show. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he stated, “If people enjoy Easter eggs, this show will be an Easter egg hunt.”
He elaborated on the creativity involved in the production process, noting, “We would write the episodes and initiate filming, only to have someone rush in with a brilliant Easter egg idea. We would then dash to the set to incorporate exciting elements that fans would adore.”
The opening credits of Dexter: Original Sin cleverly pay tribute to the original series, focusing on the familiar rhythm of Dexter’s morning rituals. Additionally, the show reintroduces younger versions of beloved characters. For instance, the character of Angel Batista is now played by James Martinez, who maintains the classic look, complete with his recognizable hat and vibrant tropical shirt.
Fans of the original series will also appreciate familiar elements, like the visual of Dexter spinning in his chair, a nostalgic nod that seamlessly blends the old and the new.
