50 Cent, a long-standing rival of Sean “Diddy” Combs, is set to delve into recent controversies in an upcoming Netflix docuseries that will follow Combs after his arrest amid a wave of lawsuits and allegations of abuse.
The accusations against Combs surfaced in November 2023, sparking significant media coverage and public discourse.
Fast forward seven months, the rapper is now contending with eleven lawsuits, all of which the new Netflix docuseries, produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson—known for his sharp critiques of Diddy—will thoroughly investigate.
Fans are excitedly awaiting the response from the rapper of ‘In Da Club’ regarding the avalanche of allegations, especially given his long history of vocal opposition towards Combs.
Is The Diddy Documentary Officially Happening?
As of September 2024, Netflix has confirmed its collaboration with 50 Cent to produce a docuseries that will delve into the serious allegations against Combs. Speculation about the project began in May when Jackson revealed they had secured the rights to produce it.
Alexandra Stapleton will take the helm as director and executive producer, collaborating with Jackson’s G-Unit Film & Television.
In a joint statement, Stapleton and Jackson expressed their commitment: “This narrative holds significant human implications. It is a multifaceted story that stretches back decades, beyond just the headlines and videos we’ve seen. Our goal is to amplify the voices that are often unheard and provide thoughtful and nuanced perspectives.”
“Although the allegations are unsettling, we encourage everyone to remember that Sean Combs’s narrative does not represent the entirety of hip hop culture and its contributions.”
The public rift between Jackson and Diddy has been widely recognized, with Jackson addressing it directly in a July 2024 interview.
He remarked to The Hollywood Reporter, “I’ve always been transparent about steering clear of Puffy’s parties and similar events. For years, I’ve intentionally kept my distance. It’s just an energy that feels uncomfortable.”
When questioned about watching footage related to Diddy’s alleged assault of his former partner Cassie Ventura, Jackson replied, “Initially, he dismissed it as a fabrication, and then the tape emerged—so it’s clear he has been dishonest.”
He further commented, “Anyone with a daughter can only imagine how horrific that situation is. It’s baffling how he got away with it for so long. With all his power and influence, a partner should be a willing participant in their life, not coerced.”
Since the project was announced, fans have been quick to unearth past quotes and footage of Jackson criticizing Diddy.
Currently, there is no further information or a set release date for this Netflix docuseries.
2. 50 Cent Reveals Earnings from Documentary Will Support Sexual Assault Victims
On December 7, 2023, 50 Cent announced via X that his documentary, titled Diddy Do It, will include testimonies from the victims of Combs’ alleged assaults, with all earnings directed towards those victims.
The rapper has been taking jabs—both subtle and direct—at Combs for many years.
The initial charges against Combs came from singer Cassie, who accused him of rape, assault, and sex trafficking during their relationship. Although he settled the lawsuit swiftly, two additional women emerged with similar claims shortly thereafter.
50 Cent has often ridiculed Combs through his music and social media platforms. After Combs stepped down as chairman of Revolt, Jackson wasted no time in calling him out publicly, offering to buy the network amidst looming sponsor concerns.
“I’d happily make you an offer for it right away! Sell it to me, and we can be buddies,” he remarked.
3. Is There a Release Date for the Show?
As it stands, there is no confirmed release date for the P. Diddy documentary on Netflix. The project is in its early stages of production, and neither 50 Cent nor Netflix has provided an update on timing.
Nonetheless, a report from Deadline on September 18, 2024, mentions that Investigation Discovery is working towards a different docuseries as well.
Maxine Productions is set to produce “Quiet On Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV,” which is expected to debut in 2025.
This new series will explore the rise, fall, and myriad challenges faced by the music mogul.
