Diet Expert’s Tip: The Best McDonald’s Order to Lose Weight

If you’re looking to lose weight but still want to enjoy your go-to fast food joint, a dietitian has all the necessary information for your next McDonald’s order.

Despite the challenge of trying to lose weight, it can be difficult to decide what to order at restaurants. Many people believe that they must completely avoid their go-to fast food spots; however, this is not always necessary.

It may come as a surprise, but Dietitian Kristen Carli, the owner of Camelback Nutrition & Wellness, recently revealed her preferred order when she visits McDonald’s.

Carli recommended ordering the McDonald’s Classic Burger with a side of apple slices and an unsweetened iced tea for those looking to lose weight.

Choosing a simple burger, like a McDonald’s hamburger or cheeseburger, offers protein and carbohydrates without the added calories from cheese or mayo.

According to her, opting for apple slices as a side would contribute to your daily fiber intake and provide natural sweetness without the addition of sugars or fat. Additionally, choosing unsweetened tea as your beverage option would not only keep your drink calorie-free, but also aid in keeping you properly hydrated. This meal offers an ideal combination of protein, carbohydrates, and fiber, which can effectively help you feel satiated while still managing your calorie consumption.

Despite its low calorie count of 250, Cari emphasized that the meal was still packed with 12 grams of protein, which she described as both a “BFF for weight loss”and a “superhero of nutrients.”

In addition to this, McDonald’s has a convenient section on their website which provides a comprehensive list of meals that contain less than 600 calories. Some examples of these meals are The BBQ Chicken & Bacon One – Grilled Meal, McChicken Sandwich Meal, and Filet-O-Fish Meal.
