“Pluribus is not Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul, ” Gilligan stated in an interview with NME.“It’s set in Albuquerque and features a notable actor from the Breaking Bad universe, but it diverges from the themes of violence and crime found in those shows.” He acknowledges the possibility of audience misunderstanding, anticipating that some viewers drawn in by the connection to “Breaking Bad”may find “Pluribus”doesn’t align with their expectations.
Starring Rhea Seehorn as Carol Sturka
The series stars Rhea Seehorn as Carol Sturka, a novelist whose life dramatically changes when she discovers that nearly everyone is aware of her identity and wishes for her happiness. Gilligan originally intended to cast a male lead but changed direction after collaborating with Seehorn.
“I often found myself falling back on the notion of writing another male protagonist, ” Gilligan admitted to the Radio Times.“However, getting to know Rhea Seehorn, who had already showcased her incredible talent on Better Call Saul, inspired me to create a female lead. She embodies so much range; she can evoke laughter and tears seamlessly.”

“Pluribus”imagines a world where harmony, compassion, and unity reign—an artistic response to the prevalent division and discord in contemporary American society. Gilligan expressed his concern regarding the nation’s polarization, emphasizing that regardless of political affiliations, most citizens desire a more united coexistence.
“I feel we are living in a fractured atmosphere that divides us, ” he shared.“Yet, I firmly believe that no one truly wants this reality. Through Pluribus, I aim to explore that anxiety and the yearning for a better world through storytelling.”
Season Two Is Already in the Works
Following an intense bidding process in Hollywood for “Pluribus, ”Apple TV emerged victorious, committing to a project with a reported budget of $13.5 million to $15 million per episode. This significant investment highlights the network’s confidence in the show’s potential success.
