Launched in October 2025, Dispatch experienced significant success but unfortunately missed the eligibility window for this year’s The Game Awards. The good news is that it will qualify for next year’s awards, although the development team harbors a few concerns about its reception.

With an all-star cast, an engaging narrative, and episodic content that kept players on the edge of their seats, the first season of Dispatch was a resounding triumph. Consequently, a growing fanbase is eagerly anticipating a second season, hoping to reconnect with beloved characters and explore the ramifications of their choices in the game.

Dispatch Set to Compete in The Game Awards 2026

In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Nick Herman, the Co-founder and COO of AdHoc, expressed optimism about qualifying for The Game Awards in 2026. He confirmed that they received assurance from Geoff Keighley regarding their eligibility but voiced a significant concern: “If anyone’s going to care.”

As the 2026 nominations approach, nearly a year will have passed since dispatch’s release. Given the highly anticipated competition, including titles like GTA 6 and various promising indie games, there is a genuine fear that this innovative adventure could potentially overshadow its achievements.

Citing the critical role of The Game Awards in their journey, Herman noted, “Dispatch only exists because of that show. We didn’t have a publisher when we showcased our trailer at The Game Awards [2024].That was Geoff being incredibly supportive. We owe a great deal to this event.”

In the previous ceremony, Dispatch was nominated for Best Debut Indie in 2025; however, this was based on just half the game being available at the time of voting. Herman remarked on this peculiar advantage, stating, “It’s remarkable that we received a nomination for Best Debut Indie even though voters had only experienced half of the game.”

Given the strong performance from only half of the game, there’s good reason to believe that anticipation will remain high leading into 2026. Additionally, Herman humorously suggested a strategy to maintain interest: “We’ll unveil the dramatic scenes a week prior to The Game Awards [2026] to remind everyone that Dispatch is still in the conversation!”
