Disturbing Film Based on Unsolved Serial Killer Case Released on Paramount Plus

If you’re in search of your next horror fix, Paramount Plus has got you covered with the addition of a chilling film inspired by a real-life serial killer case.

The commencement of a new month is consistently an enjoyable time due to the abundance of fresh movies and TV shows being added to different streaming services.

Additionally, it is important to acknowledge the vast amount of licensed library content, which has allowed shows like Suits to experience a resurgence in popularity even years after their original release.

In August, Paramount Plus has expanded its collection in the horror genre by including several films, such as the 2007 movie Zodiac, on its platform.

One notable positive of this film is that it is directed by David Fincher, known for his work on Fight Club and Mindhunter. Fincher brings an authentic sense of the era and a pervasive feeling of dread to the film, adding to its overall impact.

Additionally, the film is inspired by the true and haunting unsolved case of the Zodiac, a notorious serial killer who committed a minimum of five murders during the 1960s.

His notoriety stemmed from his habit of sending cryptic ciphers and letters to local newspapers, taunting authorities and taking credit for his crimes while simultaneously ridiculing law enforcement for their inability to apprehend him.

Instead of solely dwelling on the gruesome aspects of the killings, Zodiac shifts its focus to the individuals who were highly dedicated to tracking him down, resulting in a film that is driven by its characters.

This sets the stage for impressive performances from its star-studded ensemble, such as Jake Gyllenhaal playing the role of political cartoonist Robert Graysmith, Mark Ruffalo as inspector Dave Toschi, and Robert Downey Jr. as crime reporter Paul Avery.

Additionally, we see Brian Cox, known for his role as Logan Roy, portraying the character of lawyer Melvin Belli in his usual manner.

Keeping in consideration all of these factors, it is not unexpected that Zodiac has received a strong score of 90% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and a decent 77% from audiences.

Throughout the years, supporters have consistently sung the praises of the movie, with one individual expressing their love on Reddit stating, “Whenever people inquire about my favorite film, I always mention Zodiac.”

“While I may not consider it to be “the best,”it is certainly my favorite. The acting, music, and overall atmosphere all contribute to its unique appeal. In my opinion, it is vastly under-appreciated.”

Another person commented, “In addition, the film’s historical accuracy surpassed that of most true crime movies.”A third individual also shared their thoughts, stating, “The basement scene has stayed with me. I have never experienced such a sense of dread while watching a movie.”
