Like a Dragon: Ishin – Fighting Style Trainer Finding Guide

In Like A Dragon: Ishin, Sakamoto Ryoma has four different fighting styles. Each style gives him access to different moves and skill sets. It’s always good to have points invested in each style so he can use them in different combat situations.

Like A Dragon: Ishin has a skill unlock system. In this guide, players will find the location of trainers for each of the four styles.

Swordsman Style

Like Dragon Ishin Sword-1

The swordsman style is a well-balanced sword fighting style that allows players to deal great damage while effectively blocking attacks from any weapon. His moves can also hit multiple targets, making him excellent when facing bosses or fighting enemy archers.

In order to improve their swordsman and wild dancer styles, players must go to the Ginryū dojo. It is located in the upper western part of Rakugai and can be reached by following the road near the dojo during the third chapter. Arriving there, they run into several ronin who try to start a fight, but they are chased away by the dojo master: Ginryu. He invites Ryoma to the dojo where he can be trained as both a swordsman and a wild dancer.

In exchange for training, Ginryū requires players to show him swords of progressively higher grades, from dull to better. A sword of a particular class won’t fit unless it’s the same class or higher than the one it asks for in each stage, so players will need one sword of each class to access all of its training.

Brawler style

Like the dragon Ishin Brawler

Brawler style is a fighting style that uses parries, counterattacks, and other techniques. It resembles the fighting style of Kiryu Dragon from Yakuza/Like A Dragon and that of the fighter from Yakuza 0. The secret to learning new Brawler moves can be found in Komaki.

Komaki’s dojo is located to the right of Teradaya on the map and is available as early as Chapter 2. To learn new skills, players must complete challenges in the Komaki Dojo to break the seals on the skill tree, allowing them to learn previously locked techniques such as the Komaki Tumbler and the ever-helpful Komaki Cat-Like Reflexes.

Wild Dancer Style

Like a Dragon Sword Ishin And a Pistol

The Wild Dancer style is a powerful offensive style that allows players to wield both a sword and a pistol at the same time. It deals damage to large groups of enemies at once, but reduces the player’s ability to defend, since he cannot block in this style (except for parry, which requires good timing). This style’s main defense is dodge, but it makes up for it with strength when dealing with groups.

Like the Swordsman style, Wild Dancer training is done by Ginryu at his dojo. It requires players to show it a sword of a certain class only once, after which it offers access to training in both styles, allowing players to deepen their knowledge of both styles.

Shooter Style

Ishin Gunman Skills - Acid Poison Ammo

The Gunslinger style allows Ryoma to attack from a distance with his pistol and special ammo, dealing high damage and inflicting status effects. However, there are no reliable defensive moves in this style other than evasion. Good use of cover and positioning can allow players to take out entire groups from a distance.

William, a foreign arms dealer, trains players in the gunslinger style by going to East Umekojicho and scouring the southwestern part of the area for a trio of suspicious people staring at the ground. Communication with them leads to the appearance of William, and the players go to his hideout.

This allows players to complete his training and gain access to his side story, which includes unlocking skills that allow you to create your own special ammo. These skills allow them to use a number of highly effective status effects.

Like A Dragon: Ishin is available for PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
