Driver Claims Eating Mars Bar to Challenge Traffic Ticket

However, a 30-year-old man from Gort, Ireland, has garnered attention for what some deem the “most extraordinary excuse yet”by asserting that he was actually holding a Mars Bar, not a mobile phone.

The Extraordinary Driving Offense Defense

According to a report by the Connacht Tribune, Daniel Fahy was apprehended back in February 2024 by the gardaí for allegedly holding his phone while operating his vehicle. At the time, he received a fixed penalty notice, which he subsequently chose not to pay.

During his court appearance for the traffic violation, Fahy’s legal counsel argued that he was, in fact, eating a Mars Bar at the moment in question.“He showed you the wrapper, ” the attorney stated in court.
