EA Addresses Backlash Over The Sims 1 & 2 Re-Release with Significant Update

The development team behind The Sims franchise is aware that a considerable number of players are facing challenges with the recent re-releases of The Sims 1 and The Sims 2. In response, they have released what they describe as an “important update.”

With a series of teasers about classic Sims games shared both in real life and across social media platforms, EA has successfully captured the attention of the gaming community. This build-up led many fans to speculate that older titles might be making a comeback.

Confirming these hopes, The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 received their Legacy Collections on January 31, 2025. This initiative allows these beloved classics to function on modern hardware seamlessly.

Current Issues with The Sims Legacy Collections

Unfortunately, not all players returning to enjoy these classic titles have had a positive experience. A significant number of complaints revolve around technical difficulties, including game crashes and bugs. In addition, many users have noted issues with their Sims not being able to sit down and eat, as discussed in a detailed Reddit thread. This has contributed to the growing frustration among the community. Despite the rocky launch, EA has acknowledged these issues in a recent blog post from The Sims Legacy Team.

In their communication, they stated, “Sul Sul Simmers! We recognize some fans are currently experiencing various issues with The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection.”

They further assured players that they are actively investigating these concerns and hope to provide updates on potential fixes soon. Players are encouraged to submit their screenshots, videos, and diagnostic files, such as dxdiags and (for The Sims 1) vulkaninfo.exe, to aid in the troubleshooting process.

While a specific timeline for resolving these issues has yet to be announced, players can expect future patches aimed at enhancing the gameplay experience beyond merely invoking nostalgia.
