In a recent announcement, Alec Dawson, the associate game director for Overwatch, has confirmed that significant nerfs are imminent for two heroes that have been highly dominant in Season 1. These adjustments follow the major changes introduced in the Season 1 update, which not only included typical balancing modifications but also introduced five new heroes into the game.

Among these new additions, Jetpack Cat has emerged as a strong Support character, leading to players frequently banning her in competitive matches. Similarly, Domina has established herself as a formidable presence in the Tank category, prompting a high ban rate from the community.

Upcoming Nerfs for Jetpack Cat and Domina

In an interview on February 20 with Deemzies, Dawson shed light on the upcoming nerfs for Jetpack Cat, specifically targeting her Perks, Claws Out and Territorial. He stated, “We’re going to be nerfing those sometime early next week, and in the mid-season we’ll perhaps be adding a new Perk and getting rid of Territorial as well.” Dawson acknowledged that Jetpack Cat’s current ability to deal aggressive damage swiftly—flying towards enemies and leveraging her claws—requires adjustment to ensure balanced gameplay.

In addition to Jetpack Cat, Domina will also receive some tweaking. Dawson noted, “Domina has a high ban rate as well; she’s pretty strong at launch. We’re going to be looking at some things to tone her down as well.” However, specific details regarding the nature of these adjustments remain undisclosed at this time.

The next major update for Overwatch, the mid-Season 1 patch, is anticipated to roll out in March, presenting an opportunity for players to see these changes applied. Keep an eye out for further announcements as the team continues to enhance game balance and experience.
