In Octopath Traveler 2, the settlement of Sai is a desert community on the outskirts of nothingness, full of desperate individuals hoping for enough money to get by. The regular conflicts with neighbors don’t help matters either, which is why protagonist Castti visits the neighborhood.
Sai is also the setting for one of Partitio’s Scent of Commerce side tales, as well as one of the most difficult side stories in Octopath Traveler 2. This tutorial will show you how to complete both of them, as well as the side quest situated in the town’s East District.
Guide to Ruined Nation Plans
To find a Master Carpenter, go up the stairs towards the back of the East District. According to him, Sai was formerly a part of the kingdom of U, and repairing the old U stronghold would provide a lot of homes for the inhabitants of Sai. But, he cannot construct the castle without a design, and all of the ancient U craftsmen fled east to the Harborlands.
The blueprints may be obtained from an NPC named Former U Carpenter, who can be found at the Canalbrine bar. He possesses a vital object known as Fort Orochi Plans, which players may get through any means.
Return the plans to the Master Carpenter to receive a reward of 6,500 leaves and a Tough Nut (M). Players will also have access to two chests containing a Battle Hatchet and a Refined Sword as a result of the upgrades.
Trade Scent: Sai
As Partitio arrives in Sai, he’ll be looking for a famous elderly shopkeeper named Masoud. Partitio wants to see Masoud’s famed Mercantile Manuscript, but first he must prove himself by delivering Masoud what he values the most.
To begin, players should go down into town and discover Masoud’s Daughter standing beside a well. Employ her for 1,000 leaves and return her to her father (only Hiring will work). This isn’t the answer, however Masoud’s Daughter will provide Partitio with a hint. With this information, return to Masoud and hire him for 5,000 leaves.
The Mercantile Manuscript, which contains a wealth of background material about the eight areas, the eight jobs, and so on, is the reward for finishing this side tale. It also explains why the game has just six weapon kinds and why the cash is called leaves.
At the Decaying Temple, a Sword Hunter
This side narrative may be obtained by entering Sai and going to the healing tent. However, completing this side mission is far more difficult than gamers may imagine. According to the Young Warrior, a robber took his ancestral sword and fled to the east to a location known as the Decaying Temple.
The Decaying Temple may be reached by the northern road from the Eastern Sai Sands, however its doors will only open if the protagonist is alone.
To do so, head to the tavern and click the “Remove” button on the Change Party screen. The Octopath protagonist chosen by the player is generally locked inside the active party, however they become unlocked once their main plot concludes. Following then, players can enter the Decaying Temple with any of the eight protagonists.
The danger level of the Decaying Temple is 40, and players should pay heed to that figure. In this region, opponents attack one by one, but the sword hunter, Karma, is a true boss encounter with hazardous tricks.
Beating Karma
Throughout the fight, Karma will switch between postures with new vulnerabilities, gradually increasing his ferocity and attack count. If players are unable to break through his shields before they max out, he will unleash a special attack that strikes four times and then does 9999 damage with no means to lessen the amount.
Any character would be instantly killed by this. Moreover, one of Karma’s special stances has one shield but no vulnerabilities, necessitating the usage of a special ability such as Temenos’ Latent Power or the Dancer’s Ruinous Kick.
Thankfully, any character may defeat Karma in a reasonably simple manner. Just assign the Merchant job to the character and have them purchase any four of the job’s talents. This allows them to equip the Support Skill Hang Tough, which allows characters to retain 1 HP after any assault as long as they started with more than a quarter of their health remaining.
Karma only utilizes his special stances once, therefore players who can maintain their health will be able to withstand Karma’s ultimate assaults and finally wear him down. The Merchant profession may also help by bringing in Experienced Troops and doing a massive amount of damage in a short length of time.
After Karma is depleted, players can return the Keepsake Sword to the Young Warrior for 12,000 leaves and a Refreshing Jam.
It’s a little prize given the work required to defeat Karma, but at least gamers can boast they defeated one of the game’s most legendary monsters.
Octopath Traveler 2 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
